My Walk was 24 years ago. Even though I had attended church my entire life prior to my Walk, that weekend has had a great influence on my spiritual growth ever since. Over the years, I have enjoyed serving in our community in various ways. Now, I am thankful for the privilege of serving as the SONrise Community Lay Director for I look forward to serving with you and seeing you at community events. We have two Walks coming up in the next several weeks and here are some things that I d like for you to think about. What impact did your Walk have on your spiritual journey? Where might you be spiritually if you had not gone on a Walk? How did going on a Walk happen for you? Who invited you and sponsored you? Going on a Walk is a great gift. You can t pay it back but you can pay it forward. Who might God be leading you to sponsor? Application forms and sponsor guidelines are available on our website. In addition to praying about who you might sponsor, please also be in prayer for the teams and the pilgrims. Additionally, I encourage you to participate in the Walks: help with set-up and take-down, serve meals, come to Candlelight, visit the Prayer Chapel, sign up for the 24-Hour Prayer Vigil, and write letters to Pilgrims. De Colores, Ernie Vogel, Community Lay Director 2016 Chrysalis News As I sat looking out at a Winter wonderland, looking forward to Spring, I thought about my message in the last newsletter about Chrysalis going through a change of seasons. God has heard out prayers! We are joining with Highlands Emmaus to have a boy and girls Chrysalis April 8-10 in Boone, NC. Chrysalis is open to high school sophomores through age 22. Details are still being worked out and I will have more information, and registration forms, in the next couple of weeks and will post on Facebook. Please be in prayer for who you can sponsor, all the caterpillars, and the teams. 2 Pilgrims names will be published on the website after Send Off. Look for them on the community page of the SONrise Emmaus website and on the yahoo group postings. Get Community Information On-Line With the possibility of discontinuing the mailed newsletter, it is even more beneficial to join the Yahoo Group for SONrise Emmaus. Community information will continue to be available on line. Just prior to Walks, Flights and Journeys, newsletters will continue to be published in electronic format and will be available on line at: Consider signing up for our community s, if you have not already done so. Go to: Click on the button Join this Group. Fill in the requested information and then click on Join in the bottom right corner of the screen. KEEP INFORMED JOIN! This group will only be used for news/information for our SONrise Emmaus community. Be sure to log in with a yahoo id to have full access to the website calendar, etc. Receive the latest, most up-to-date information on walks, gatherings, etc. Receive driving directions to location, churches, events Join us on Facebook SONrise Emmaus Community Group is an open group you can join to receive notices of Gatherings and general information. You will also be able to share prayer request and other information with the Facebook community. Our Emmaus Website As part of our Emmaus Community, you have access to a great resource, our SONrise Emmaus website. You can access a wealth of community information on this website. 6 SONrise Emmaus Community Let s Be the body of Christ in action How can I help, you ask? 1. Pray pray for the teams and the pilgrims and pray to see if God is leading you to sponsor a pilgrim/ caterpillar for a walk/flight. Sign up for the prayer vigil for the upcoming walks/flight. 2. Sponsor a pilgrim/caterpillar (see registrar information) 3. Volunteer to serve on teams 4. Serve meals during the walk jump right in and help the teams (set tables, clean up after meals, wash dishes, etc.) 5. Come to sendoff, candlelight and closing to support the pilgrims and teams 6. Help with the facilities setting up and taking down (we really need lots of help with this) 7. Share your musical ability with the community become a part of the worship team for gatherings, candlelight, etc. 8. Do you have a passion for the youth? Get involved in the Chrysalis program!! We need help. 9.
