Pastor Marc will be leading us and bringing the Word this morning. He will continue the series on Who We Are and Our Commitments to discover what it means to be Christ s Church today. 13 OUR CHURCH FAMILY CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS Dewey Westra (Royal Park Atrium); Pray that the medications treating Dirk Hollebeek s Graft vs. Host Disease will continue to be effective for him. Following her recent surgery Lois Nienhuis is recovering and receiving therapy at Hallmark Living on 32nd Street but she is making little if any progress. Pain is still severe and they will be seeing Lois doctor tomorrow to try to figure out the cause and more effective treatment for her. Bob Sluiter continues to need our prayers as he gains strength again at home. Gail Zylstra was to have undergone stress tests for her heart issues on Thursday. Pray for good results and that the doctors can determine a good and effective treatment to help her. Continue to lift Jett Ellerbroek up in prayer as well. Hugh Slenk left for Texas this yesterday to serve with World Renew for disaster relief. Pray for him and the efforts of the team that they will accomplish much in the name of the Savior and assist those in need. Please make the following changes in your CHURCH DIRECTORIES: Ron and Betty Compagner 2971 Bayberry Court Holland, MI and Alma Krol has moved to Room #216 at Maplewoods Resthaven where she will receive more personalized care. VOICES OF PRAISE will rehearse this morning during the Sunday School hour upstairs in the Choir room. ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL will meet downstairs in the Fellowship Room immediately following worship. Next Sunday we will be celebrating the REFORMATION. November 13 also marks the 400th anniversary of the start of the Synod of Dort which gave us the Canons of Dort as well as much of the organization of our church life today. Our service next Sunday morning will be shaped around the Scriptural doctrines of grace exposed in those Canons. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD: Our GEMS Club are going to be taking care of the Operation Christmas Child boxes this year. There is a table set up at the back of church by the elevator to receive your donations. You should have received a flyer in your mailboxes with more detailed information. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Mast or Shelley Plaggemars. SENIORS: Mark your calendars for the Thursday, November 8, outing to Southside Inn for breakfast at 9:00 a.m. You must sign up so that the restaurant knows for how many to plan and prepare. 13

ANNUAL MITTEN-PLUS DRIVE: Less than five weeks remains before our Mitten-Plus Drive is over! We need your help to make this year successful. Will you be part of this project by making or purchasing mittens, gloves, scarves, hats, slipper, etc. for need families? This year we especially need larger size mittens/gloves and slippers in all sizes. All donations are greatly appreciated. All items must be new; they can be handmade, machine made or purchased. REFORMATION DAY 400th Anniversary of the Synod of Dort: On Wednesday, October 31, at 7:30 p.m. at 14th Street Church (14 West 14th Street) Don Sinnema will present (in costume) the history and significance of this gathering and the Canons that endure. Pastor Chad Steenwyk will respond with contemporary use of the Canons in our churches. 14

Parents, please pick your child up at the Children s Center immediately following morning worship. Catechism for grades 6th-12th will meet this morning from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in their various assigned rooms in the Ministry Center. The 6th and 7th grade Catechism class is reminded that They now meet in the GEMS craft room upstairs in the Ministry Center. CADETS: Cadets will not meet this week Wednesday or next week. MIDDLE SCHOOL E.T.C. & High School Youth Group MIDDLE SCHOOL ETC will be heading to Rebounderz in Jenison for an evening of fun, food and fellowship on Friday night, November 9. They will leave the church at 5:15 p.m. and arrive back at 8:30 p.m. HIGH SCHOOL and MIDDLE SCHOOL E.T.C will join again for Youth Group Meeting on Sunday night, November 11.
