2 A warm and loving welcome to everyone as we gather on this God s holy day to worship Him. A special welcome to our guests and visitors we are glad you have joined us! On this Palm Sunday we see our Savior, humble and riding on a donkey into Jerusalem on His way to Calvary s cross. May our hearts be filled with praise for this wonderful Savior we know as King of kings and Lord of lords. Hosanna! Pastor Chad will bring the message this morning and lead us in worship. This morning we will prepare to gather around the Lord s table together on Good Friday evening. Tonight Pastor Chad will lead us in worship and bring the message from God s Word continuing our study of the Heidelberg Catechism. This is the day that the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it! 14 OUR CHURCH FAMILY Please lift up in your prayers those who continue to need an extra measure of God s healing mercies: John Meier, Dave Vannette, Jo Sluiter, Dirk Hollebeek, Jerry Stryker, John Horsting, Libby Ellerbroek and Shirley Greving. We are grateful to God for the progress they are making and for the healing taking place. Diane De Vries was able to return home on Wednesday night for which we give thanks to God for answered prayers on her behalf. Pray that she is able to gain strength in her recovery. Dave Vannette has returned home under Hospice care. Pray for comforting peace that only God can give at a time like this for Dave and Karen. Continue to remember Jett Ellerbroek at Youth Reach Golf Coast. Hugh Slenk returned home safely from his service trip to Puerto Rico for which we give thanks to God. We offer our sincere Christian sympathy to John Meier and family in the passing of John s brother Eduard in Germany. This is always so difficult when distance separates from family. Pray for God s comfort and peace in this time of loss and sorrow. CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS CHILDREN S WORSHIP for children ages 3 & 4 will meet today during the morning worship service. On April 24, at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Julie Yonker from Calvin College will tell of her research about the effects on those born during the 1945 Dutch Hunger Winter. The group will meet in the Fellowship Room and enjoy a light lunch after the program. Cost will be $5 per person. Please sign the sheet in the narthex for those planning and preparing for the event. Our FINAL WEDNESDAY ACTIVITY NIGHT for the season will be on Wednesday, April 24, with dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. followed by all planned activities and ministries. Menu will include hamburgers, potato salad, chips, and an ice cream sundae. Following dinner we will have the Central Avenue AMAZING RACE for all ages on Wednesday, April 24. Come for dinner and then head over to the Ministry Center at 6:30 p.m. You may set your own team of four or we will form teams as you come. You will be racing around downtown looking for clues and, of course, the winners will earn the prize. No need to sign up! 14

16 CHURCH ANNOUNCMENTS cont. ONE NIGHT ONLY COUPLES BIBLE STUDY: There will be a Couples Bible Study in the Ministry Center on Sunday, April 28, after the evening worship service. This is open to all couples no matter how long you have been married. We will be using John Piper s Husbands Who Love Like Christ and the Wives Who Submit to Them. Please be reminded of our ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING on Monday, April 29, We will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary to discuss and vote on budgets as well as office-bearers nominees. There will also be a presentation and update regarding the Vision 2020 planning. The Youth Group will be hosting a fundraiser dinner prior to the congregational meeting that night. Tulip Time is May 4-12 this year. The Evangelism Committee is planning to open the Parkview Café for one day on Saturday, May 4, from 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. This is also the day for Art in the Park in Centennial Park with Dutch dancing near by. We will be hosting the café in three hour shifts and will need volunteers/helpers to assist. There is a sign up sheet in the narthex if you are willing to help with a shift. SHOE DRIVE: Abby and Jack Allen are currently collecting gently used shoes for their 4-H Club. Shoes will be sent to an organization that sets up and supports micro-enterprises (small businesses in developing countries). As you are doing your spring cleaning, please consider donating any shoes that you wish to get rid of. We are accepting shoes of all sizes and types, including boots, dress shoes, heels, athletic shoes, and sandals. Shoes may be placed in the box at the back of church, and will be collected through the month of April. 20 Children's Worship YOUTH CORNER April 14, 2019 Children Worship for children ages 3 and 4 will meet as usual today. The children are dismissed as indicated in the order of worship. Parents can pick up their child after worship at the Children s Center on the lower level. Teacher: Shelly Koeman; Helper: Kirsten Buter Sunday School for ages 4 through 5th grade will meet this morning. The children gather in the Children s Center downstairs at 11:00 a.m. and are dismissed at 11:50 from their classes. Catechism classes for grades 6-12 will meet from 11:00 11:50 a.m. in their various assigned classrooms in the Ministry Center again this morning. HIGH SCHOOL ONLY YOUTH GROUP will meet tonight following worship. They will meet in the Ministry Center as usual. Hosting: Mike and Tami Bouma and Matt and Kerri Allen Don t forget to register for the RYS Convention to be held July at Cedarville University in Ohio.
