If you are visiting with us today, we are happy that you are here and trust that together we find joy and blessing in the hearing of God s Word. This morning we have the privilege of witnessing the baptism of Claire Elizabeth Bruinsma, infant daughter of Mark and Kris, as we celebrate the covenant promises of God to us and to our children. Pastor Chad will lead us in worship. Jessica Rozema will offer special ministry of music. This evening Pastor Chad brings the message from God s Word. May the God of all peace and comfort sustain you in your loss and sorrow. Chuck Schaap has moved to Oakcrest Manor. Pray that God will be close to him and to Caroline as they look to Him for peace in this transition. Case Deventer continues at Heartland. Elsa Deventer has moved to Resthaven Maple Woods Room #157. Pray for God s blessing on their new arrangements. Pastor Na WILL BE TRAVELING TO Cambodia this Wednesday to conduct church leadership training for a month. Pray for safety and effectiveness. 12 CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS cont. DISCIPLER S BIBLE STUDY GROUPS meet this week: Men/Women 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Early Men s Groups: 6:00 and 7:05 a.m. on Thursday morning. We will be discussing Lesson 2: Job 3. Lessons are available in the mailroom by the library. New members are always welcome to join. Contact Pastor Chad with any questions. CADET SEASON KICK-OFF this Wednesday from 6:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The cadets will also begin their annual Light Bulb Sale. We ask that at least 1 parent be at this meeting as we go over all of the information for this year. We will be measuring boys for shirts as well as handing out guidebooks. Refreshments will be provided. GEMS also will meet for the first time this Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. with a Mother/Daughter Scavenger Hunt. PRAYER BUILDERS meets every Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. They meet in the Prayer Room at The Connection. All are welcome to join for this time of prayer. YOUNG COUPLES/SINGLES: Those participating in the outing to Art Prize on Saturday are asked to meet at Ken and Sue Hoekstra s house at 5:00 p.m. for pizza. The group will leave from there after supper. WEDNESDAY ACTIVITY NIGHTS start on October 5. We need two people each week to help serve the meal and two people to help with clean-up. We also need pumpkin desserts donated on November 16. You can sign up for both in back of church. October 8 will be the CHURCH PICNIC/ PASTOR APPRECIATION at Drenthe Grove. Sign up in the narthex. Pies are needed for the Pie Walk at this year s Harvest Party/Church Picnic. If you wish to make a pie for the event, please sign the sheet in the narthex. Just bake your favorite pie and bring it to the picnic on October 8. Please, no pies that need refrigeration. Questions? See Lloyd Cook. SENIORS: On Thursday, October 13, our seniors will be going to Cran Hill Ranch. You are asked to be at church by 9:30 a.m. Cost is $25.00 per person payable to Irv Bos. Transportation will be by the church vans. There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex. The trip is limited to 35 people so sign up soon! We will begin scheduling in church on September 25 after church and every Sunday following. On September 26 the online scheduling will begin for those who want it. The session is free and every family will receive a free directory and free 8X10. Any questions can be directed to Hilary Rozema at Snowbirds leaving before November can contact Hilary about getting early photos taken. ADVANCE NOTICE: On Thursday and Friday, October 13 and 14, the Evergreen Chorale will be using Central Avenue Church s facilities for recording sessions to produce a requested third CD of hymns. The Chorale s intent is to cause the least interruption of any church staff ministry; however, church members are asked to be considerate of the recording activities and give accommodation and tolerance of these two days. Entrance into the building may be restricted at times. Recording periods are scheduled for Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thank you ahead of time for your cooperation! 12

We meet in the library so exit the front sanctuary door by the piano. Parents please pick up your children immediately following worship.
