2 Pastors Column My dear family, What a busy week we have! Full of all sorts of good things. This Tuesday, at 7:00 pm, the Sacrament of Confirmation will be conferred upon 90 of our parishioners by His Excellency the Archbishop Emeritus Michael Sheehan. This Saturday, at 10:00 am, about 150 of our children will make their First Holy Communion at the Santa Ana Star Center. Let's pray for our brothers and sisters receiving these Sacraments! Our Monday Night Spring Bible Study You Make Me Crazy continues to draw hundreds of people. This week we are going to study a very important teaching from the Bible Finding The Love of Your Life. This will be a compelling message on God's non-negotiables for marriage, and how to find love for a lifetime. After 36 years as a priest, I've seen that a lot of "crazy-making" happens in marriage, and the reason is because God's plan was not followed in finding love. I've also seen how the craziness is avoided when couples follow God's, marrying the right person. This important message is of course directed to the singles of our parish, but I also want to challenge our parents, grandparents, and everyone who works with young people to attend, so that you can know how to guide others how to find the love of their life according to God's way. Monday, May 7th, 7:00 pm, Fr. D'Arco Hall. I'll be teaching - a one hour presentation No 6:00 pm Mass on Tuesday, May 8, due to the Confirmations at 7:00 pm It's the Month of our Blessed Mother. What a wonderful thing to pray the Holy Rosary every day! Some more bits of tender wisdom: Today, when I witnessed a 27 year-old breast cancer patient laughing hysterically at her 2 year-old daughter, I suddenly realized that I need to stop complaining about my life and start celebrating it again. Today, a boy in a wheelchair saw me desperately struggling on crutches with my broken leg and offered to carry my backpack and books for me. He helped me all the way across the campus to my class, and as he was leaving he said "I hope you feel better soon." A blessed week. Msgr. Doug Raun 2

The Archdiocese recognized individuals who emanate genuinely distinguished disciple-hood. Awardees regularly reach out to those who are less fortunate, volunteer for projects to help the school and larger community, are compassionate and caring to all, and live out Catholic faith on a daily basis. According to this definition, Distinguished Disciples: 1) Make a conscious choice to be followers of Christ 2) Live that choice through actions regardless of the cost to themselves 3) Treat all they have both talents and possessions as blessings to be shared with others 4) Build the kingdom of God though their example of joyful generosity and sacrifice ( Distinguished Disciples May, 2016) Mr. Stamp is a man who shares every part of who he is at St. Thomas Aquinas School. He presents himself with gentle dignity and humility. He exemplifies his faith in word and action as an ambassador of true Christian discipleship. He is a selfless volunteer who shares his knowledge with middle school math students three mornings per week and while he coaches the Math Counts team. It is one thing to teach math, but it is another thing to teach with encouragement and support, to teach with unwavering commitment, and to teach with joy and His love of God by his example. Sela possesses a sense of decency and purity of heart not often seen in others her age. She, of course, embodies all of the attributes we use for measurement, but it is her spiritual traits and the virtues she exemplifies that make her the clear choice. Everything she does is enveloped and motivated by her love of God, and animated by her sense of charity for her neighbor. Spiritually mature beyond her years, she has heard the message of love and has given herself over to it. Sela is an amazing all-round student who excels academically because of her grit, determination and perseverance. She is responsible, trustworthy, fair-minded, and caring.
