2 Page 2 CENTRAL THOUGHTS September 2018 A New Year in September A New Season of Opportunity Autumn's Majesty Patricia L. Cisco Sun with his artistic touch, streaks skies of blue with rosy blush, trimming Oak and Maple too, crimson reds with yellow hue. Birch and Hemlock, purple and gold, apples, pumpkins bright and bold, burns by day and cools by night, cloaking trees in fiery might. Wispy winds and tumbling leaves, cypress scents within the breeze, starry eves and harvest moon, sets the stage for crickets' tune. As spiders spin their tapestry and crickets sing in symphony, their final song of destiny, it's clear for all the world to see, Autumn's vibrant majesty! Everyone has their own image of Autumn. What is, to them, the perfect idea of the season. Fall leaves, their sound. Vibrant colors. Cool nights. Football, hunting, school. What is your picture-perfect image of Fall? For me, Fall also includes the image of a new church year. Summer activities winding down and Autumn s demands start up. Fall says Sunday School, Confirmation instructions, Fall Harvest Meals, and an upswing in attendance on Sundays. Along with this comes new opportunities for growth and learning. I get excited about what this year will be like. A returning class and a new class of Confirmation students coming to learn at the beginning of September. A group of nine students who will Affirm their Baptism at the end of September. Adults who will come to review what they learned so many years ago and then re-affirm their baptismal faith on October 28 th, Reformation Sunday. All of the above is a part of the season of Autumn. May you enjoy it all. Have a continued, blessed Pentecost and Autumns, May God move in your life. Thanks be to God! Pastor Kent

CONFIRMATION News This year s orientation meeting for youth, parents & faith partners of confirmation age will be held on Wednesday, September 5th at 6:00 at Peace church. Youth will be invited to sign and bring their covenants to worship on Sunday, September 9th. FAITH PARTNERS A very important part of the confirmation years is developing a relationship with an experienced Christian. We invite each student to choose someone from the congregation, who will spend time with them talking and learning about the faith. We ask that each pair spend a minimum of three sessions together in a year, and the adult is asked to submit a short report of the experience. You don t need to have all the answers, just a willingness to listen.

Present were Wayne Vorland, Carol Koefod, Randy Heibel, Marlys Klimp, Val Fick, Jordan Lillemoen, Pastor Kent and Council Presidents, Les Evavold and Justin Anderson. We reviewed the profile established by the Call Committee, being: it was important that our pastor live in our community and be part of our social lives; someone that was comfortable working with the youth and calling on, not only just elderly and shut ins but all parishioners, recognizing it could be a challenge working with all ends of the age spectrum. It was important to have a pastor that was comfortable doing outreach in the community to meet people. Most of the discussion was on restructuring or reestablishing the youth group, again encouraging the use of the Education Team to help find adult leaders and ideas for meeting places and activities. It was strongly suggested to utilize our office staff office to lighten his work load and to review schedules with June and to do a daily log to help organize and prioritize. Pastor Kent asked for a list of 10 families or people from each congregation that we no longer see at weekly worship. We will meet again on Wed, October 24th. Grue Sunday School Grue Sunday school will start on September 16th, small catechism will be given to students that day and blessing of your backpacks so Bring yours on the that day and be reminded that Jesus goes with you through the halls and classrooms everyday.. The Christmas program will be on December 16th at 6:00 pm with Pot Luck at 5:00 pm.
