1 I Love My Church November 2018 see something that needs to be done, do it. Don t ask whose job it is, because we all have the responsibility of caring for the church. I hear a lot of people say, I love my church! So, if I were to ask do you love your church? Most of you would say, "yes, of course!" and that's a good thing. But why do you love your church? The Bible never commands us to love the church, however, Jesus modeled for us how we should act toward the church. Paul in the book of Ephesians said, "Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her," (Eph. 5:25). If Christ loved the church so much to the point that He willingly gave up his life for the church, I believe He modeled for us, how we should act toward our church. We should love it and sacrificially give of ourselves our time, talent, and treasure. I invite you to consider how you can love your church in as many ways as possible. I was thinking of one way is that when you Another, we are all obviously, seeking how we can give more financially, even above our tithe. Many are considering helping raise funds through flea markets, plant sales, etc. This is good. Another way you can show love for your church is by loving our church with words. Say good things about your church and never support or entertain negative words about our church. Invite your friends and bringing your neighbors is an amazing way to say, "I love my church. Join, with me in loving our church and we will see the Lord bless our efforts together.

We will have hotdogs and games also. November 10th Indoor Flea Market We are asking for volunteers for bake sale items and to work that day (attic treasures table, church rummage table, bake sale, set up and clean up). Thanksgiving Ingathering Gracious and loving Father, we give thanks for our many blessings. You have given us life, air to breathe, food for our bodies, and joy for our souls. May we never forget to give thanks for each new day that brings an opportunity to share our bountiful blessings with those in need as we celebrate Thanksgiving with our families and friends. Come ye thankful people, The applications were placed in the church parlor. You can donate money for

4 purchase of food, paper products, and health/beauty items by using the pew envelopes and indicating Thanksgiving on your check. The last day to bring in your donated items is November 13th. Dinner Church Saturday, December 8th at 4:00 pm We have submitted a request for grant to help fund the dinner. We are investigating catering prices. We are looking for volunteers to walk in the neighborhood to personally hand out invitations. We plan on handing out a small bag of cookies at the same time, so we need cookie bakers as well. If you can t walk, please consider supplying some cookies. Salvation Army Angel Tree Christmas is just around the corner. When you are making out your Christmas list this year, please remember the children in Saginaw who will not have a good Christmas without your help. We will be getting the names of 20 children this year from the Salvation Army. I will try to have those names on the Angel Tree right after Thanksgiving. We have so much to be grateful for. Please share some of what you have with a child. Any questions, please call Betty Dork. Church Yard Beautification We are working on improving the appearance of our church yard. Larry Arthur has painted both of our corner signs, and they look great. Lois Arthur and I cleaned up the weeds and dead flowers under the signs. We are investigating making some potted silk arrangements to be placed by the doors. Thanks to those who have helped mow the lawn, rake leaves, and trim trees throughout the year. It is greatly appreciated! Mary Ann Pilditch Outreach Coordinator Have you ever seen a puppet show? Children bubble over with giggles at the puppets antics during comedy. They shout advice during an adventure. Of course, young audiences don t care about the performers behind the stage. The puppets appear to have a life of their own, and so the children don t think about the hands inside them. Church activities Similarly, many of us forget the hidden hands behind many church activities. It s all too easy to forget the members of the congregation who volunteer to clean the sanctuary the day before so it s ready for the beautiful music and powerful words of worship. It s all too easy to attend spaghetti dinners and pancake suppers, forgetting those in the kitchen preparing food or washing dishes. It s all too easy to pray for shut-ins, forgetting those who take the time to write or visit them. All too easy, because so often it s the same people performing all of these tasks. Our lives are

5 made of time. God s most precious gift was Jesus time on Earth. Surely spending time doing what the church needs behind the scenes is a vital part of saying Thank You to God.
