3 Oct.29, 2017 AS WE GATHER It s still all about Jesus. It was all about Jesus when the Lord God first promised a Savior to Adam, Eve, and their descendants. It was all about Jesus with every foretelling of the coming Christ by Old Testament prophets. It was all about Jesus at the manger, the cross, and the empty tomb. It was all about Jesus as the apostle Paul penned, We hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law (Romans 3:28). It was all about Jesus when Martin Luther posted his Ninety- Five Theses on October 31, It s still all about Jesus today as we receive the Means of Grace Word and Sacrament. It will be all about Jesus when He returns in glory on the Last Day. As we observe the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, we celebrate that it always has been, and always will be, all about Jesus! For there is no distinction: 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God s righteousness, because in his

6 divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. 27Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. Pastor: This is the Word of the Lord. How is it that you say, You will become free? 34Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. 35The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 8 ALTAR FLOWERS: Altar flowers are given to the Glory of God by Jan Hurley Choir practice is on Wednesdays at 7:15pm. All are welcome even if you are not a soloist. All Sunday School children will sing on Nov. 5, Reformation Books are in. Stop by the Church Office to get your copy. THE HUMAN CARE COMMITTEE will meet Thursday Nov. 2, at 6:00pm before the Elder s meeting Circuit Reformation Service on Sunday, October 29th at 3:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church, Lincoln. President Mark Miller will be the guest preacher. Trinity, Manito will be hosting their annual Chili Oyster Supper on Wed. November 1st from 4:30 to 6:30pm. Cost is $6. There will also be bake sale items available for purchase. Everyone is invited to attend. Dogs, Chicken Salad Sandwiches, Cakes, Pies and beverage. There will also be a bazaar and bake sale.

9 LWML-CID MISSION GRANT #2: Fort Wayne & St. Louis Seminary Food Banks ($10,000). This grant will assist both seminary food banks in stocking their shelves with food, toiletries and other household items for seminary students and their families. LWML-CID MISSION GRANT #3: Human Trafficking Education ($3,350). Human trafficking is a modern term for slavery and is the fastest growing, and most lucrative, criminal activity in the world. This grant will help MOST Ministries develop, publish, and implement English to Spanish training materials and evangelism resources as MOST teams go to Central America to help combat this international crime. Pray for these organizations as they demonstrate God s love to those they minister to. CILCA HOMECOMING 2017 is Saturday, October 28. There is a 5K at 10am, vendor & craft fair, food trucks & drinks, yard games, face painting, and wagon rides from 10am- 2pm, Lloyd Garrelts (from Eschelon) performing live at 12:30,
