All Saints Day was/is a time commemorate the passing of Christian loved one during the previous year. If you were asked to share how you manage and care for God s property, what would you say? Have you considered what a faithful steward is expected to be and to do? Perhaps you d say that, as a God-pleasing steward, you acknowledge God as the creator and source of all things. As the creator of all, He owns everything. God s property is on loan to us. As stewards, we are to manage what He has entrusted to us responsibly and for God s purposes. As God s stewards, we are not to be passive managers but active and involved. We are caretakers and managers of God s gifts so we are accountable for what we do with His gifts of time, talents, and money. As faithful stewards, we can glorify and honor God with lives of service and faithful use of our gifts. Stewards live a life expressing gratitude to God for both our created and redeemed lives. We live a life of saying thank you to God for His love and mercy. Stewardship is faith in action. Filled with God s grace, we share our gifts with others. To answer the question, Are we being faithful stewards with our lives and gifts? we may want to check our calendars and check registers. Faithful stewards would have times marked on their calendars for helping others, church meetings, and Bible studies. We would be spending time in prayer and attending worship services. Through faith, we try our best to use our time doing God s will. Our check book register would show weekly offerings being made to God through our church, and there would be some checks written to help the needy. Our calendars and check registers will show us what and where our priorities lie. As stewards, God has blessed us with many blessings, but the decision is ours whether or not we will use those gifts for the work of the Lord. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, God enables us to use our gifts faithfully for His purposes. May God help us all to be the faithful stewards He wants us to be. Page 3

There was some discussion about our checking account balance, our projected Christmas gift giving totals, and the cost of funeral lunches. As a result of this discussion, a special meeting of the officers and the funeral committee will be planned for the purpose of drafting a more equitable funeral luncheon policy. Co-President Donna Stelter explained that correspondence this month was from the other Ladies Aid societies from Mason County trying to determine which societies wanted to continue with the traditional Mason County Convention and which group s wanted it cancelled. A paper vote was taken, the results of which were 7 yeses and 10 nos. Committee Reports: Emilie Roos reported that she had $20 ins ales of napkins and cards. She sent cards to Rose Burgard and Paul Sebade. Also, get-well cards for member Virginia Barrett and Pastor Reimnitz were sent around for members to sign. Emilie will be ordering more cards and napkins for the soup supper soon. Due to an increase in costs of purchasing these items from Concordia, it was decided to increases the cost of selling them by a dollar a box or package. Donna Stelter reported on the Prayer Chain which was activated 9 times from July to September th. Donna also reported on the nursing home visit which was on Wednesday, September 4. The committee served 16 residents orange sherbet and ranger cookies. Priscilla Ginglen reported that there was one funeral lunch on August 14 for the family and friends of Frances Kachanuk where 0 guest were served. New Business: Priscilla Ginglen and Evalena Dierker discussed the up-coming annual soup supper which will be on Wednesday, October 23, from 4:00 to 7:00. Priscilla distributed sign up sheets for salads and pies for members to sign. It was again decided to ask the members of the congregation for help in purchasing the ingredients for the food that will be prepared at the church the day of the soup supper. The monetary assistance the congregation gave the Ladies Aid Society last year was so appreciated and greatly needed, and $10 donations this year for the same purpose would be gratefully accepted, so please notice the baskets at the back of the church as you leave the sanctuary! Pumpkin and Pecan pies may be served but must be kept in the refrigerator until purchased. The Mason County Extension Office is planning a seminar called Serve It Safely on Friday, September 27, from 10 a.m. to p.m. at the extension offices in Havana. Page
