Newton Divine Service III (pages 184 The Baptism of Our Lord As We Gather Baptism in Christ carefully balances the terror of death and the exhilaration of resurrection. Sin is dismantled, disarmed, and destroyed. The sinner, engrafted now to Christ, becomes a new creation, baptized and resurrected like Jesus, alive to God and claimed by Him forever. The realm of death cannot possess the life of a believer. John boldly engages in this ministry of proclamation and divine action. Even Jesus submits to Baptism, receiving the declaration of His Father, You are My beloved Son. If you desire Holy Communion: The Lord s Supper is a sacrament in which Jesus body and blood are given in and with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins (Matthew 26:26-30). When we receive the Holy Communion at a church, we are making a public statement that we agree with the teachings of that church (1 Corinthians 10:14-18). The Bible cautions us against receiving the body and blood of Christ in a manner that is spiritually harmful (1 Corinthian 11:27 29). February 13th (Sunday) from 5pm-7pm Trivia night at Shadow of the Cross (formally St. Paul's) at Middlebelt Rd. Farmington Hills February 17, Concordia Lutheran School's annual 3:30pm held at Hellenic Cultural Center Joy Rd. Westland Tickets include appetizers, dinner, drinks and lots of fun! Information will be found in the narthex. Please see Jackie Fontaine, if interested. February 24th (Sunday) at NOON (in lieu of regular fellowship) the Youth will be hosting a spaghetti lunch. Spaghetti and all the fixings will be prepared and served by our youth. It will be a free will donation. A sign up will be in the narthex, so please sign up if you plan on staying for the spaghetti lunch. March 16th (Saturday) from 4pm-7pm a combined fundraiser at Christ Our Savior church. This will be a catered dinner, served by the youth. More details to come, but please save the date!
