2 Come to the Feast Why would invited guests refuse to come to a wedding? Free food and drink, music and dancing what s not to like? By this time, Jesus knew that many of the Jewish leaders would not accept the invitation to follow him. As we know, after the Resurrection the disciples began to spread the good news not only to other Jews, but to anyone who would listen. One reason the leaders in Israel did not accept Jesus was his association with sinners. They did not understand that God calls sinners to repent and be forgiven. Ordinary people, who knew they were sinners, were attracted by the offer of forgiveness. Many of them repented and came to be baptized. As the parable says, they filled the banquet hall. So what about the man in the parable who came in street clothes? The wedding garment was a symbol of the baptismal gown, the sign of new life in Christ. So this man symbolizes those who come to the feast without repenting of their sins. We can be like that man sometimes. We come to church, arguing with our spouse on the way. We bring our prejudices, lies, anger, and selfishness with no intention of doing anything about them. We come with the attitude that says, I m here, aren t I? That should be good enough. But it s not. By dying for our sins, Jesus calls us to come back to God. So repentance is not just a change of clothing, it is a change of heart. It is our ticket to the banquet, our way of saying, I know I don t deserve this, but thanks for letting me share the feast. Tom Schmidt, Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. Listen, my son, to your father s instruction and do not forsake your mother s teaching Proverbs 1:8 Wonderful Wednesdays Play and Pray Wonderful Wednesday is an opportunity for parents and preschoolers/infants/young-kids-not-in-school to participate in. Please enter on the west side of the building where we can buzz you in and join us in the small classroom for play time. We have toys, puppets and puzzles galore. This is a good time to build relationships with other parents of small children in a Catholic environment. We meet the second Wednesday of the month (October 11th) from 9:30-11am. The backdrop for her book is her eightmonth deployment to Iraq. Suzanne writes about moving her husband Gil to Kenosha in 2005 to be near their daughters, Michelle Metallo and Colette Shackelford, and attending Mass at St. Anne s before flying out of Mitchell Airport on her journey to the war zone of Iraq. Her book describes her journey from a stay-at-home mom of seven children to becoming a Department of Defense civilian leader and how she did it. You can have a successful family and career. Pray, trust in God and believe in yourself! Her book, is available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. A book signing will occur after weekend masses October 28 and 29. Books will be available for purchase or bring a book you ve purchased elsewhere.

Mass of Hope and Healing Please join us for a special concelebrated Mass of Hope and Healing for parents, grandparents, siblings, relatives and friends who have suffered the loss of a child during pregnancy (including miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy), still birth, or newborn/infant/young child. What a great way to help someone who is no longer able to drive! This opportunity is extremely flexible. You dictate when (and how often) you would like to drive. At All Saints Catholic School, it has become our tradition to invite our students to pray the Rosary with their families in their homes. We do this by sending home with each student, the Blessed Mary Rosary packets. These packets include blessed Rosaries, a prayer guide on how to pray the Rosary and a photo of the Blessed Mother.
