3 CCD/YOUTH PARENT NEWS: UPCOMING CCD CLASSES: March 16 th & 23 rd CONFIRMATION CLASS - Bishop retreat for March 22 nd will be from 9:00 to 12:15 p.m.. Please check our website for more information. CCD Registration have gone home and the registration form is on our website. Please return the completed registration forms as soon as possible. CCD TEACHERS NEEDED. If you feel the call to serve in the area of teaching, please contact Kimberly Landry, 2014 CCD Coordinator, as soon as possible. Classes meet on Sundays following 9 AM Mass. MINISTRY NEWS DATES TO REMEMBER Ash Wednesday Masses will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 5 th at 8 a.m. & 6:30 p.m. A Healing Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 6 th at 6 p.m. A 150 th Anniversary Planning Committee Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 6 th at 6:45 p.m. in the conference room. Way of the Cross Friday, March 7 th at 7 p.m. and all other Fridays of Lent 6:30 p.m. The Ushers will host a parish fellowship following the 9 AM Mass on Sunday, March 9 th. 4 A Message from the Pastor Our master is whatever governs our thought-life, shapes our ideals, and controls the desires of our heart and the values we choose to live by. Love of money and possessions, the power of position and prestige, the glamour of wealth and fame, or the driving force of unruly passions and addictions can become our master and rule our lives. God is easily forgotten and pushed into the background. Mammon, in today s Gospel passage, stands for material wealth or possessions or whatever tends to control our appetites and desires. But man s ultimate goal and Master is God and not material possessions. We cannot serve both at the same time. Material possessions become a means to reach our ultimate goal, God, only when we share them with others. God is our only Master, and only He has the power to set us free from our greed. The search for holiness or righteousness should be our primary purpose in life. Hence, Jesus calls for a detachment from material goods and invites us to live a life of simplicity and dependence on God. --Father John Immaculee Ilibagiza St. Genevieve Church March 7 & 8, 2014 Registration for Immaculee is now open. The St. Genevieve Knights of Columbus will be selling plate lunches on Saturday, March 8.
