Would you like to know more about your Christian faith? Would you like to understand the beliefs and teachings of the faith better? Has anyone ever asked you a question about what Christians believe and you were not sure how to answer them? Well, then our new study is for you! Starting in March, I will be leading a study of the basics of Christian theology using the book, Christian Beliefs: twenty basics every Christian should know by Wayne A. Grudem. The book is made up of 20 short chapters, each asking and answering an important question about Christian theology. What kind of Questions will we tackle? Here is a sampling: What is God like? What is the Trinity? What is Creation? What is Prayer? What are Angels, Satan, and Demons? What is Man? What is Sin? Who is Christ? What is the Atonement? What is the Resurrection? What does it mean to become a Christian? What is Death? What is the Church? What will happen when Christ returns? What is the Final Judgment? What is Heaven? If someone asked you these questions, could you answer them? Would you like to know more about the Bible s answers to each? Why would we want to study theology? As Dr. Grudem himself states, Theology is important because what we believe affects how we live. If we really want to live our lives for Jesus, then understanding who He is, who we are, what He has done for us and what we should do in response is vital! You can join in on the study in two ways online and/or after church on Sundays. Every Sunday after worship I will be available for questions and discussion about the book. We will also use the Family Faith Formation Facebook page for questions and discussion. This is a private page that only families from our church can access. This study can be done through the Facebook page alone, so if you are not able to make it to worship every Sunday, no problem! You can still do the study with us! If you are a high school student and you are interested in joining in on this study, or if you know of a high school student who might be interested in learning about the Christian Faith, even if they don t attend OBC then contact me! It s a great read on a vitally important subject!

Breakfast about 6:45 am at OBC 9:30 am Morning Worship WOME S FELLOWSHIP EWS While President Audrey Woodard was enjoying a trip of a lifetime to Israel, six hardy Maine ladies met for lunch at East Restaurant in Wells on Thursday, February 12. It was snowing lightly, and that along with recent storms inspired a lively discussion about winters past and present. We covered winter sports, back yard birds and critters including turkeys, eagles, winter robins, and squirrels, as well as roof raking, snow plowing, and oil deliveries. The large plate glass window by our table offered a view of - you guessed it - snow. In spite of the weather, we enjoyed our lunch, stories, and each other s company. We will meet next month at Johnson s in orth Berwick. Ellie Andrews for Audrey Woodard Publicity Team The Diaconate has been directed to establish a Publicity Team. We would like the team to have three people. So three (3) volunteers are needed. If you would be interested in doing this, please contact Bob Pollard, Diaconate Chair or Pastor Jeff.

4 Easter Lilies or Tulips If you wish to provide a lily or tulips to help beautify our sanctuary on Easter Sunday, please give $11.00 to Brenda Goodale by March 29. GRACE by Shelley Shepard Gray is a recent gift to our library and is in large print. It s Christmastime at the Brenneman Bed and Breakfast and everyone is excited about closing down for the holidays. They don t expect any guests and look forward to a house overflowing with lots of family children and grandchildren. So, when two unexpected visitors appear seeking shelter, the family s commitment to hospitality is tested. First Levi arrives, sullen and angry, but insisting on staying for five days. Next Melody shows up. She s almost nine months pregnant, but won t say a word about why she traveled all the way from Kentucky by herself.

5 As the two strangers settle in, the Brennemans try to make the best of an uncomfortable situation, except for Katie, who knows a thing or two about keeping secrets. She is determined to learn the truth about these two strangers all while keeping her own secret safely hidden away. Since they have never booked guests for the week of Christmas, they weren t sure how to treat these two uninvited guests. They couldn t turn them away, because of a huge snowstorm. Did they need to cater to their every wish as they usually did with their guests or should they include them in their traditional Christmas family activities? Neither person seemed to want anything but to be alone in their own room. It turned out to be the most exciting Christmas the Brennemans had ever had. Enjoy reading all about it! This book will be placed in the New Books section on top of the bookcase and later will be filed under Christian fiction. Eunice Desjardins, For the Library Committee Thank you notes Dear Pastor Jeff and my entire church family, Thank you so much for all the get well cards and Christmas cards, and to the carolers and musicians you all were so beautiful and sang and played so beautifully. My neighbors opened up their doors and enjoyed it so much. Thank you ALL, from the bottom of my heart. It is no secret what God can do, what He has done for me, He ll do for you. With arms wide open, He ll pardon you, it is no secret what God can do. Thank you, and God bless you all, Ruth Howell Thank you Thank you to the members and friends of OBC who donated a total of 50 pillows to the York County Homeless Shelter in Alfred during the month of January, almost twice as many as last year. Just the sight of the lovely new pillows brought joy to the staff, volunteers, and especially the residents of the Shelter who received them. They send their sincere thanks. This month, the Shelter is experiencing a critical need for Pampers, Newborn/Infant to Size 5/6. Please bring donations to the church entrance, and we will make sure they are promptly delivered.
