2 Dear Parishioners and Visitors, Thank you to all who participated in the 16 th Annual OLGC Golf Tournament, either by playing in it, working on it, donating to it, or simply buying a 50/50 or Big Board Ticket. This will go far to fund many of our youth events, including aid to those attending the National Catholic Youth Conference, as well as offering assistance for our soup kitchen and pantry. On behalf of all served, thank you! In the coming weeks, representatives of St. Ambrose and OLGC will be sitting down to look at both parish s upcoming charitable goods drives, such as the coat drive, school supplies drive, hygiene products drive, etc, and trying to consolidate the schedule so that both parishes are collecting the same goods on the same weekends. It is then up to the parishes to decide where these goods will go, but this is one more effort to simplify our efforts as linked parishes, hopefully making it easier on you, the parishioners, in your support of our community. I hope this will not only make your life easier but make our charitable goods drives more successful. And finally, you will find in the bulletin a Job Posting. At present, Karen Babicek is the Ministries and Volunteer Coordinator for OLGC, and has announced that she will be leaving that post when another has been hired. She had done such a great job, and while she will continue to volunteer for many things, she is looking to hand this job over to another. If this interests you, see the job posting in the bulletin. 5 OUTREACH CORNER: Outreach Ministry OLGC FOOD PANTRY NEEDS: For The Pantry SEE BELOW All staple items needed Our cupboards are getting low and we are in need of many of our staple items. This is especially true because summer is approaching and our donations usually go down during the summer months whereas our needs go up. If you are able please donate any of the following items: Cereal, Juice, Fruit, Tuna, Pasta Sauce & Pasta Products, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Soup, Potatoes, Vegetables, Baked beans, Mac & Cheese. If you would like to donate coupons to help purchase items for food pantry. Place coupons in the plastic holder on the wall outside of the food pantry. If you don t use the inserts it is best to leave coupons intact and not clipped. Any help is appreciated. Thank You! YOUTH CORNER All events open to OLGC & St. Ambrose Students Middle School Summer Pilgrimage to Niagara Falls - August 4th, Come join the Middle School Students from around the Diocese of Syracuse on a special summer Pilgrimage. Visit Niagara Falls, ride the Maid of the Mist or see the Cave of the Winds, visit a Marian Shrine for Mass, and end the day with pizza, games & laser tag! Fee $55 per person. Please Note Lourdes Mobile Mammography will be coming to OLGC on June 15 th, July 20 th, August 24 th, Sept. 21 st, Oct. 19th, Nov. 16 th, and Dec 21 st from 3pm-7pm. They will provide digital screening mammograms with 3D technology for women 35 years and older. NYS residents are eligible to receive free breast cancer screenings if you do not have insurance. Soup Kitchen: One of our Parish Family donates Eggs weekly to our OLGC Soup Kitchen participants. If you have any empty egg cartons (12 count) you would like to donate we would surely appreciate them to help defray their donation cost. Cartons can be left in OLGC kitchen area. Virtus Training: It is recommended that all church volunteers take the Safe Environment Training Class. If you are in need of training, please go to Virtus.org, select Syracuse Diocese to view classes offered & register online. Virtus Re- Cert Classes at OLGC on 6/11 at 6:00 pm. 5 Job Posting: OLGC Outreach Director/Ministry Coordinator. Are you organized, enjoy working with people, have a passion for helping others, and empowering others to do so? This position is a 14 hour per week job (some weeks may vary, less or more) that takes place primarily on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It involves the coordination of regular weekly outreach, such as the food pantry, as well as the oversight of various annual events (like the Job Fair and Ministry Fair), as well as fostering communication with the coordinators of various parish ministries, linking the needs of people in the community with services offered, and helping new parish volunteers to find a ministry that s right for them. If you are interested, a detailed job description can be obtained by visiting the OLGC Parish Office. Applications and resumes will be due by Tuesday, June 19.
