Merciful Father, C: you have freed us from guilt through your Son and called us to work with him in your kingdom. Help us to be as compassionate with others as he has been with us. For he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. The Lutheran Church teaches that HOLY COMMUNION is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ given with bread and wine, instituted by Christ himself for us Christians to eat and drink to strengthen us in faith and service. This sacrament is for baptised Christians who repent of their sins, believe in Jesus as their only Saviour, and intend to live as God wants them to. GREETINGS FROM PERTH Whilst in Perth to serve in a pastoral vacancy we met up with Pastor Peter and Lois Hage. They are very happily settled in St John s, and very much appreciated there. They asked us to pass on their greetings to you at St Mark s. J and D Christian. REMINDER REDEVELOPMENT LOAN REPAYMENT At the AGM in April this year, we as a congregation agreed to strive to remove our loan commitment for the Redevelopment/Link area as soon as possible. This can be done by actively committing to making extra payments electronically at any time. The details to do this are BSB and account number In so doing we can also save ourselves many thousands of interest dollars over the next 10 to 12 years. As now is LLL interest time we are all encouraged to decide what we may be able to do in this way, considering God s blessings to us this last year. SAVE THE DATE The Great St Mark s Bake Off is happening again this year and in your pigeon hole you will find a flyer to save the date. This event is being run in conjunction with the Cancer Councils Girls Night In to help raise money for cancer research and support services. Please mark this date in your calendar to come along and raise as much as we can or start thinking of something to enter in the Bake Off. More details will come closer to the date. If you would like to make a monetary donation to the Cancer Council prior to this evening OR you would like to donate an item to go into a Gift Basket to be raffled on the night, PLEASE catch up with me either on Sunday mornings or at the Church on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, or you can contact Sharon on: Ph The Cancer Council is the largest independent funder of cancer research in Australia. THE OPEN DOOR BOOKSHOP The Open Door Bookshop is open between services. Each month there are a range of books,etc chosen from Koorong for you to view There are also a variety of cards to purchase. Please place money in envelopes provided and place in Jane Hill's pigeon hole.

4 4 Notes from Church Council meeting of 4 th June 2018 A barometer showing redevelopment loan repayment progress is to be put up in the Link. St Marks congregation involvement with day options people in Hill View facilities occurs regularly but could increase. Information is being sought on how members can best help. The Lorna Stokes bequest may be put towards the provision of shade in the courtyard. It is proposed the current Social Events Committee be disbanded and interested members serve with the Fundraising Committee. Before the next elections, Church Council will consider the congregation s need for more social events and how best to meet it. A 'One St Marks' working group is proposed with the aim of building on what is already being done to foster sustainable relationships with school families and share the faith with them. Church Library. The feasibility of expanding the library and bookshop has been discussed. Mission service on July 29 th. Jonathon & Julie Krause (ALWS reps) will share information about St Marks Cambodia Project. Christmas Eve service. A Cornerstone service (6.30 pm carols for 7 pm service) and a service of carols and readings (possibly 9 pm) at St Marks are planned. The School Board are agreed that if the school s purpose is clear it can be achieved on our current site or elsewhere. The school will remain at its present site for now while preparing plans for if and when it is the right time to consider an Ashton Hills presence. The property committee, among other things, has provided hanging rails in the Link and a new office sign. The cost of replacing glass in manse front windows for safety reasons is being investigated. A congregational camp is planned for later in the year. Cornerstone College Board needs another member, preferably a woman with legal expertise. WINTER BLANKET DRIVE Today in your bulletin you will have received a flyer for the Longriders Winter Blues Blanket Run (this is a Christian Motorcycle Club that has been doing this for a number of years now) please see the back of the flyer for more details. I you would like to donate any items but cannot get to Littlehampton on the day you may leave any donations in my office and I will transport them there. 5 5 The LUTHERAN promotion As you all know The Lutheran magazine which is the official magazine of the LCA is produced monthly. To encourage more readers, The Lutheran committee from the LCA office is offering a special deal to congregations so that more members can read about the church and what is happening. From July to September you will be able to purchase from the book stall in the Link, a copy for $5.00. As this is a fundraiser, St Marks can keep $2.50 for our redevelopment fund and the other $2.50 goes back to head office. Different stories that you can read about in The Lutheran include a message from Bishop John Henderson, many and varied mission and ministry stories locally and from overseas and many articles which reflect God s love for his people. If you are not currently subscribing to The Lutheran, we hope that you will take part in this outreach too and read about what is happening in your church. For further info Jane or Val. 6 6 OUR CAMBODIAN VILLAGE 2018 To support our village in Cambodia. Our Target is $5,500 and if the congregation can contribute $440 per month, we can easily reach that amount. Place your donations in marked envelope in collection bowl. Please prayerfully consider how you can help our village in Cambodia. One way for your whole family to contribute is by feeding your piggy banks. If you haven t got one of these cute and hungry pink pigs, you can pick one up from bench in the Link or ask Erica Launer in the office. The printed roster which covered every Roster until end of July got out of sync, so has been wrong for several weeks! The Roster which Bev Schultz has given you will be correct and the future printed one will be correct after July. DRIED APRICOTS Bags of dried apricots are once again available for purchase see Val Schild SOUP MORNING 24 TH JULY (Next week) The smell of homemade soup wafting through the church buildings will again tempt you to drink/eat soup instead of coffee on Sunday 28 th June! The Fundraising Committee invite you to donate a gold coin for each mug of soup. There will also be containers of frozen soup available to purchase and if there is any soup left over, you will be able to purchase that as well to enjoy at home. BLUE PRINT MINISTRIES APPEAL DINNER Join us for an evening of entertainment and wonderful company shared over a delicious meal. Hear stories celebrating the work of Blueprint Ministries and take the opportunity to invest in these vital ministries.
