Sessions will be held in the school meeting room from 1:00-2:30 PM or in the evening from 6:30-8:00 PM. If you are grieving the loss of a loved one (parent, spouse, child, relative or friend) these sessions should help you journey through your grief. Diocesan Pilgrimage to Washington, DC Join Bishop David Zubik for a Diocesan Pilgrimage to the National Shrine in Washington, DC on Saturday, September 15, Highlights: Celebrating Mass with Bishop Zubik, Sacred Music Concert by the Diocesan Choir, Holy Hour and tour of the National Shrine and more. Buses available at St Joseph (O Hara) x303; and St Catherine of Sweden (Hampton Twp) x15. Faith Afloat Registration is now open for Faith Afloat, the Vocations Office s annual cruse for high schoolers on the Gateway Clipper Empress! The cruise takes place on Sunday, October 14 from 3:00-6:00 PM. This year s theme is: Perfect love casts out fear. The talks and the worship will equip teens to realize that God s love for them is greater than their biggest fears. The cruise will include speakers, dinner, praise and worship led by the Holy Apostles Praise Band and a dance party. Bishop Zubik will lead prayer. Fr. Mike Ackerman will emcee. Tickets cost $20. Bread of Life Food Pantry During September, the pantry begins to plan for Halloween treat bags for the children in October and to begin collecting food items for Thanksgiving to insure a wonderful dinner for our families. You are part of our ongoing efforts during these months and our work to continue to support our families in the community. Thank you for your ongoing help. Web-site From the desk of the Administrator In today s bulletin you will find the first stage of the On Mission for the Church Alive! initiative: the new Mass and confession schedule. Your incoming clergy team worked hard to produce an equitable schedule. We will be soliciting feedback in the coming weeks. Remember, this is an interim schedule. We will need to work out the kinks and make a schedule with which we all can live. Recall, we can have no more than NINE (9) Sunday Masses with the current number of Priests assigned which is three (3). On Mission for the Church Alive! will also need to be a time of LOVE and PATIENCE! There will need to be love in the parking lot as we attempt to fit in extra cars and get everyone out after Mass. Please WELCOME the strange. Don t be upset with them for sitting in YOUR seat! And while your heart may be here at the All Saints BUILDING, Jesus is present in the Eucharist at the other three buildings as well! We ve been doing a great job of mixing and mingling, let s keep it up! And of course, what s Mass without the collection! Wherever you go, please, please, PLEASE, (did I say PLEASE?) USE YOUR ENVELOPE. Don t put in cash! Your envelope will come home so that the current finances of the four parishes can be maintained and monitored. This is CRITICAL for the whole transition process. Your cooperation in these matters and others will be greatly appreciated! As a sign of the beginnings of a good relationship among our parishes, Fr. Jim Mazurek sent the following article entitled: GOOD SAMARITAN At the recent Holy Spirit Picnic, a 50/50 raffle was held. The winning ticket was pulled but we had only the ticket number. So we advertised the number in all three bulletins since we had people attending from St. Bonaventure and All Saints as well. Sure enough, a call came in from a man who identified himself as a parishioner from All Saints who attended our picnic and was holding the winning ticket. We invited him to stop by the parish office and pick up his prize of $ cash! He came and we presented him with the cash which he turned around and donated it back to the parish. As he said You ll need it more than I after all your corn pot has a hole in it so this donation can help to replace it. Thank you sir! Thank you indeed! See you in Church! Fr. Jim Gretz

Moses is a priest from The Gambia, Afrca who will be studying at Duquesne University and residing at St Nicholas Parish in Millvale. He is 43 years old. The son of a Muslim father and Christian mother, he was ordained in He has served as a parish priest, seminary formation director, and diocesan master of ceremonies. He has lectured at the teachers college and taught at the catholic school. He has also served as the secretary of the presbyteral council and a member of the college of consultors. His hobbies are reading, soccer, and listening to music. Please help Fr. Moses feel welcome to our neighborhood. Ladies of Charity Meeting Welcome back from summer! The Ladies of Charity will meet on Saturday, September 15, 9:00 AM in the Activities Building. It is hoped that as many members as are able will attend 8:00 AM Mass prior to the meeting. A light breakfast will be served. Hostesses are: The 2018 Officers. Baptism Preparation Baptisms take place on the second and fourth Sundays of the month immediately following the 10:00 AM Mass. Before a Baptism can be scheduled, registration and attendance at a Baptismal preparation class are required of all parents. We strongly suggest that you attend the class before your child is born. The next class is scheduled for Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the rectory meeting room. Please call to register. Saint Padre Pio Mass Mass in honor of Saint Padre Pio will be celebrated on Monday, September 24, 7:00 PM at St Augustine Church (Our Lady of the Angels Parish), th Street in Lawrenceville. The public is welcome and relics of Padre Pio will be on display. Confession will be offered from 6:00-6:50 PM. Fr Mick Joyce, OFM Cap is the main celebrant. Annual Tootsie Roll Drive The Knights of Columbus, Chapter #9984, is holding its annual Tootsie Roll drive to benefit the Bishop s Fund. We will be at the All Saints Church after each Mass on the weekend of September 22 and 23. Thank you for your support. 23RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME In this Sunday s Gospel, Jesus BOX restores hearing to a deaf man with a speech impediment. He touches the man s ears and mouth and heals him using the word Ephphatha, which means be opened. (It is of note that this Greek word spoken by Christ has become an optional rite in the Order of Baptism of both children and adults, where the priest blesses the ears and mouth of the person being baptized.) The man is then able to hear and speak plainly. Jesus instructed the people who were there to keep quiet about what had happened, but the more they were ordered not to, the more they proclaimed what had happened. If only we had the evangelistic zeal of those people proclaiming the good news of the Gospel even when ordered not to! If we open our hearts to the Lord, he can restore our hearing so we can hear his voice, and bless our mouths to proclaim his Word. We are excited to have both our folk group and choir returning this weekend. Even as we read the accounts of the miracles Jesus worked, like the healing of the deaf and mute man in today s Gospel, we are amazed at the powerful love of God at work to heal and strengthen us. In particular, Jesus cry of Ephphatha! (be opened!), is not simply so that the deaf man s ears would be open and that his tongue would be freed. It is also a call for his heart to be opened in faith and trust in God. The Lord cries out Ephphatha for us, too, that we might be opened to his powerful love at work for and in and through us. This is not only for our benefit, but for the benefit of our parishes, our communities, the Church and the world. As we prepare for the implementation of the On Mission for The Church Alive! initiative, the Lord invites us to be opened to the work of the Spirit so that we can be strengthened for the work of building the Church. Volunteers are not required by state law to take MRT, but they ARE REQUIRED by Diocesan Policy to take MRT. This workshop only needs to be completed once.
