You truly made me feel as if I was part of your parish family. Due to health reasons I have moved to a new residence: Little Sisters of the Poor Apt Benton Avenue Pittsburgh, PA I will continue to keep you in my prayers and may God continue to bless each and every one of you. Fr Garry Patriquin In this Sunday s Gospel BOX reading, Jesus prays to the Father for all of us. He prays that we may be one just as Christ and the Father are one. If we look around at the number of different denominations of Christianity that exist today, it can certainly seem as though that Jesus prayer has not been answered. There have, of course, been a number of major schisms in the Christian community over the centuries. We must all continue to pray for the body of Christ to one day become one, no matter how impossible that might seem at this moment. Beyond that, we should all strive to find ways to work, pray, and yes, even sing together with our sisters and brothers in Christ. Despite our differences, we all worship the same risen Christ who loves us and gave his life that we might live! Happy Mothers Day to all of the strong and courageous women who worked so hard to help make us who we are! I pray that all mothers have a blessed and joyful day this Sunday and every day throughout the year! Yours in ministry, Tom Rishel Web-site From the desk of the Administrator Lest I lose track of the days, I need to wish all mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, and all women who give life, a very happy and blessed Mother s Day. I hope this day gives life to you in return for all that you give to others. Enjoy the day. There is lots going on in the parish this week. Today we celebrate the Rite of Sending for our 8 th Grade confirmation Students. Next week they will be confirmed in their faith at the Cathedral. Tuesday is Primary Election Day. While I can t advocate for whom you should vote, I can remind you teasingly to vote early and often! It is your civic duty. And pray for the candidates while you are in the booth. Wednesday evening our Ladies of Charity is hosting a gathering of ladies from our grouping for a social. Thursday evening is our bi-monthly Baptism Preparation Class. Friday is the reception for yours truly in the Activities Building. Next Sunday is Coffee and Donuts Sunday. Pshew! I m tired already! I share with you that I am trying to wrap my brain around the workings of our grouping. want the clergy team to begin regular meetings. There is a lot of preliminary work we need to do. Our first order of business is for us to get our act together. We need to establish how we will operate as a clergy team. Perhaps a given. However, we each come from past experiences and need to have a unified front for moving forward. The next big hurdle will be for us to create the Mass and confession schedule. While we are allowed up to NINE (9) Masses, I m thinking we might only utilize SIX (6). I ll see what the brothers think about that and what that might look like for us. Our homework is due by mid-june. The next series of meetings need to be on the celebration of Mass. I think back to the Second Vatican Council. They thought the easiest place to begin was to reform the liturgy. Well, it took them two years to come up with the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy. I hope it doesn t take us THAT long. I want us to respect the rubrics and liturgical laws in a way that is mindful of our various architectural structures to provide us all with the vibrant worship that Bishop has mentioned. We all have to be on the same page for us to worship well together. I m thinking too that means school for you all ministers and congregation. Perhaps this is another component of our School for Ministry and Liturgy. See you in Church! Fr. Jim Gretz I

Bread of Life Food Pantry Thank You The Bread of Life Food Pantry thanks all the parishioners of All Saints Church for their donation of 6 bags of food to their pantry. Every donation helps in fulfilling our mission of feeding the hungry and serving our surrounding communities. AS YOU SENT ME INTO THE WORLD, SO I SENT THEM INTO THE WORLD In the creation story we are told that God made human beings in His image. This doesn t mean that we are exact clones or identical twins of God, but rather that each of us, in light of our unique gifts and characteristics, are created to reflect the vibrant life and loving face of God to others. God s hand in our lives doesn t end in creating us. Throughout our lives God gives us purpose and fills us with the gifts we need to fulfill that purpose. The challenge for us is for us to know ourselves as God knows us. Through prayer and in humility we are invited to see clearly God s will for our lives and all he has provided so that his will and our lives may be complete. God hasn t randomly or thoughtlessly placed us in this world to create a reality for ourselves. He has sent us into the world with a specific task in mind that we might love others and build up his kingdom in the Church, making it ever more Alive! Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.
