Respect Life On this day15 years ago so many beautiful souls were lost because of hatred and the lack of respect for human beings, each created in the image of God. How horrific were these acts, and how much they pierced the heart of our Lord. Each life from the moment of conception until Jesus calls each of us home is precious and unique. We ask the Lord to change hearts and remove the veils from their eyes. He is the only One who can! Keep praying! (God hears each word.) The Eucharist The Eucharist is so difficult to understand. Very often we say to ourselves, I don t feel any different after I receive Communion. It doesn t matter how we feel. Jesus is feeding us. It s similar to when we tell our children at dinner time: Eat this, it s good for you. It will make you strong. They say, I don t feel any stronger. With Jesus in us, we will be stronger, regardless of how we feel! Words from Pope Francis Jesus did not preach His own politics: He accompanied others. The conversions he inspired took place precisely because of His willingness to accompany, which makes us all brothers and children.. A Scripture to Ponder The King s heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; He guides it wherever He pleases. (Proverbs 21:1) (Lord, as we approach the elections, please help us elect those who will be willing to be guided by You according to this scripture.)

Mother Teresa of Calcutt (Now St. Teresa) A Thank You Note for Your Donations for Haiti We received this lovely thank you from Marianne Scherl, one of our parishioners, who goes to Haiti twice a year to help our brothers and sisters who are in such desperate need. Thank you, Marianne for your loving heart! I want to thank everyone who donated shoes and clothing to our Haiti clothing drive. I was o verwhelmed with the response. We filled 4 large barrels to ship to Riviere Froide, Carrefour, Haiti. Most of it will go to the orphanage and the new school that opened for children (many are teens) who have never been to school. We also sent clothing and shoes to the pediatric clinic that we have twice a year. Two Haitian nurses open it twice a month to provide prenatal care. And a special thanks to Father Jeff, the Saint Mark s Right to Life group, and the Outreach women who sorted and folded all the donations. THANK YOU The St. Lawrence of Brindisi Fraternity wants to thank all of you for allowing us to speak at the Masses during the weekend of 8/27 and 8/28 about the Secular Franciscan Order. A special thanks to Msgr. Jeffrey for allowing us to speak and hand out our vocation brochures. We would also like to thank Fr. Mickey and Fr. Tom for making us feel so welcome. We ask Jesus to help this scripture come alive in our hearts. Jesus is so loving and merciful to each of us, so we ask Him to help us show that mercy to others. It will be a life-long process, but with His help we can grow each day. And so we pray... Just for today, Lord Jesus, help me be more caring and compassionate. Just for today, Lord Jesus, let me exhibit and foster contentment accepting everything that comes my way, knowing that You can make something good come out of anything and everything. Just for today, Lord Jesus, help me be a friendly and encouraging advocate in all circumstances Just for today, Lord Jesus, help me encourage those who struggle letting them know that You are right at their side, sharing their load.
