3 Amoris Laetitia, on love in the family continued 36.We also need to be humble and realistic, acknowledging that at times the way we present our Christian beliefs and treat other people has helped contribute to today s problematic situation. We need a healthy dose of self-criticism. Then too, we often present marriage in such a way that its unitive meaning, its call to grow in love and its ideal of mutual assistance are overshadowed by an almost exclusive insistence on the duty of procreation. Nor have we always provided solid guidance to young married couples, understanding their timetables, their way of thinking and their concrete concerns. At times we have also proposed a far too abstract and almost artificial theological ideal of marriage, far removed from the concrete situations and practical possibilities of real families. This excessive idealization, especially when we have failed to inspire trust in God s grace, has not helped to make marriage more desirable and attractive, but quite the opposite. 37. We have long thought that simply by stressing doctrinal, bioethical and moral issues, without encouraging openness to grace, we were providing sufficient support to families, strengthening the marriage bond and giving meaning to marital life. We find it difficult to present marriage more as a dynamic path to personal development and fulfilment than as a lifelong burden. We also find it hard to make room for the consciences of the faithful, who very often respond as best they can to the Gospel amid their limitations, and are capable of carrying out their own discernment in complex situations. We have been called to form consciences, not to replace them. Special Coffee Hospitality Sunday-November 13 Following 9:00 & 11:00 am Masses We have been Blessed with the appointment of Fr. 4 All Souls Day Envelopes The Parishes of Guardian Angels and Sacred Heart are invited to remember the souls of their loved ones by entering names on the back of the All Souls Day Envelope. 5 Information Meeting for the Sacrament of Confirmation The Confirmation Information Meeting for young people (Grade 7 and up) and their parents and guardians will be Sunday, November 20 after the 9:00 am Mass from 10:00 am to 10:45 am. Or attend on Monday, November 21 at 7:00 pm in the Guardian Angels Parish Hall. An information package will be distributed to Grade 7 students in our Catholic Schools: Notre Dame, St. Bernard, and Monsignor Lee. The package can be picked up also in the parish office. Confirmation will be celebrated by Bishop Kirkpatrick on May 28, Shepherds Trust - November 12/ The mission of The Shepherds Trust is to raise awareness and funds so that elderly and disabled priests are provided with sufficient financial resources to lead a dignified life after many years of ministry. The fund supports the needs of retired clergy in the Archdiocese of Toronto who have served for many years. By supporting The Shepherds Trust, retired priests are given the dignity of adequate pensions, health care and other assistance in their golden years.

Pope John Paul II The Senior Men s High School Retreat is an invitation for young men, grades 11 and 12, to cultivate a deeper prayer life and relationship with Christ in order to better discern God s call for their lives. The day retreat is organized by seminarians and university students working with the Office of Vocations and offers opportunities for Mass, Reconciliation, prayer and personal testimonies of the Seminarians and university students. There is also time for recreation and fellowship with other young men who are also striving to live holy and virtuous lives.
