Sermon Notes This week will be different because my take home from Sunday is Announcements Fellowship Time - You are invited to our fellowship time that is held between worship services. This is a time to visit with friends and meet new ones! We'll have the coffee pot on and some breakfast goodies available in the Café from 8:30 8:55am and from 10:00 10:30am. We will also have coffee in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the 8:15 worship service. Wherever you head for fellowship time, we welcome you and encourage you to come! 4

5 New Members Gretchen and Nathan King will be joining the church at the 9:00am service. They have three daughters, Elsie (10) and twins, Leah and Caroline (8). We welcome them to the ORUMC family! Commissioning - The day has finally arrived! The new Stephen Leaders have attended a seven-day training course and have returned eager to cast the vision for this lay caring ministry. They bring their gifts for leadership, vision, wisdom, administration, organization, discernment, and teaching to select and equip those who will be and are Stephen Ministers lay Christian caregivers in our congregation. Join with us as we thank and praise God that this group of believers has answered the call for ministry. Please continue to pray as they offer the Lord their service in this important ministry. Blood Drive - Our next blood drive is tomorrow, from 2:00-6:30pm. Make an appointment at Use the Red Cross RapidPass link to speed processing once you arrive: We will process walk-ins as quickly as possible, but having an appointment and RapidPass will speed your processing and help speed the flow for everyone. Invite friends. If you cannot donate blood, consider providing some canteen snacks. Mary Martha Circle Meeting tomorrow at 3:00pm at the home of Nancy Saxman, 6103 Morganshire Drive, Summerfield. Our speaker will be Judy Dyer teaching us about JUDITH, the unknown woman of the Bible. All are welcome. Please contact Cassandra Thacker at if you have any questions. Feed & Seed Join us Wednesday, February 13 from 5:30-6:30pm in the FLC for a Fundraiser meal for Johnny Van Kemp. Enjoy dinner and an evening with Taylor Vaden performing a mix of love songs, Elvis favorites, Gospel and Contemporary Christian music. This week s menu is Chicken Souvlaki/Tzatziki/Greek Salad/Pasta Salad/Hummus/Pita Bread/Green Beans/Rice (Chicken Tenders for the children). Price is $7.50 per person (family maximum of $25). All proceeds will be given to the Van Kemp family. Reservations and/or cancellations are required by 4:30pm on Monday. 6 Daughters of the King Valentine Tea Hosted by the Marvelous Moms Discipleship Group for women 55+ widows, single & single again on Thursday, February 14 from 10:00am to 12:00pm in the ORUMC Café. We want to celebrate ladies in a special way on this day. We will have brunch items, light entertainment and a gift for each of you who attend. Church Council There will be a called meeting on Thursday, February 21 at 6:30pm in F204/206. Donation Opportunities Are Here! Please consider donating new toys/trinkets/prizes for the Roots store (prizes can range in age from 3-12 years old) or for Family Bingo Night on Friday, March 15. Prizes can be for children, teenagers, men or women! We d love to have handmade prizes, too (crafts, cakes, cookies, woodwork, etc.)! Donations can be brought to the office and left for Larissa. Worship Arts- Drama Opportunity! - We are looking for volunteers to participate in a dramatic skit in our Maundy Thursday Service on April 18. We are looking for Disciples, 2 Adult Women, and 1 Youth Girl. The female roles will have some lines and a few of the Disciples will have speaking parts as well. It primarily serves the administrative needs of our staff, but it also offers some exciting opportunities to support the way you are involved in our church. Not only will this improve work life for our ministry staff, it will make it easier for our church family to connect with each other, keep up with what s going on, and grow as a connected community of believers. 7 Souper Bowl of Caring Recap - Patriots may have won the big game, but ORUMC s canned donations chose the Rams, as we totaled 197 items collected for Good Samaritan ministries (77 for Patriots, 120 for Rams)! The youth also ended the day with 39 students at our Super Bowl party. *** Confirmation - Begins this morning at 10:05am in room F-216, but there s still time to sign up. We ll have class each week until May 19, and can still take some more students over the next week or so. *** Youth Service Project Friday, February 22 is this month s service project as we ll help host Parent s Night Out, right here at ORUMC. Please sign up with Harrison if you d like to help, sooner than later as even volunteer spots are filling up fast for this event. *** Concert - March 1 we ll take a student outing to the Phil Wickham concert in Winston-Salem. 9 Camp GuilRock Camp GuilRock is a 210-acre camp located in Reidsville, North Carolina, located just North of the Rockingham-Guilford County line. The property includes an 8-acre lake, 2 smaller lakes and borders the Haw River on the North side. The camp was incorporated in January of 1970 when United Methodists from Guilford and Rockingham counties had the vision to develop a Christian outdoor education and spiritual growth camp. Our board of directors oversees the camp and is made up of laity from the Northern Piedmont district of the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. The camp employs a full time director, Eric Hearn, who manages the day-to-day operation of the camp. Although affiliated with the United Methodist Church, Camp GuilRock is open to all people regardless of their religious affirmations. Our mission statement is "Discover Creation, Experience God, Grow in Faith". Groups of all ages enjoy various activities at Camp GuilRock including camping, swimming in our pool (seasonal), canoeing and kayaking, volleyball, gaga ball, hiking, fossil digging, archery, fishing and picnicking. We also offer hayrides, bonfires and challenge course activities. Camp GuilRock regularly hosts retreats, scout groups, family reunions and birthday parties. Summer Day Camp, our newest ministry program, offers 8 weeks of adventure for rising K-6 th graders. Not only does it share the love of Christ with children in their formative years but it also provides the opportunity for high school and college-aged counselors to grow in Christian leadership. Camp GuilRock, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, is funded through fees, donations from camp supporters and support from the WNCC. More information on our ministry can be found by visiting 9
