5 Sermon Notes This week will be different because my take home from Sunday is Announcements Fellowship Time - You are invited to our fellowship time that is held between worship services. This is a time to visit with friends and meet new ones! We'll have the coffee pot on and some breakfast goodies available in the Café from 8:30 8:55am and from 10:00 10:30am. We will also have coffee in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the 8:15 worship service. Wherever you head for fellowship time, we welcome you and encourage you to come! Welcome New Members! This morning Thomas and Terry Osborne will be joining at the 8:15am service. At the 11:15am service, Matt and Katie Howard, as well as Ken and Lynn Gordon will be joining. We welcome each of you to the ORUMC family! A Lenten Prayer Encounter - Wednesday nights March 13 April 17 from 6:00-7:00pm in Room D214 led by Rev. Nick Scandale. Come join in the discussion as we look at various aspects of prayer including: fundamentals of prayer, prayer and the character of God, dealing with impediments to prayer, praying with and for others and other topics. Our Lenten focus this year is on prayer and this study will be a great way to deepen this emphasis. Sign up through Tara in the church office. Family Bingo Night - On Friday, March 15 we are having a Family Bingo Night for ALL AGES! The event will be in the FLC and will take place from 6:00-7:30 pm. Wilmington Celebration Choir Saturday, March 16 at 7:00pm. Come to the church to hear some fabulous and lively Gospel Music performed by an 80-member Senior Choir! 6
7 Commissioning of Stephen Ministers - On Sunday, March 24 at all three services, our congregation will commission four new Stephen Ministers. These dedicated people have been training every week for eight months and are ready to begin their caring ministry among us here at Oak Ridge United Methodist Church. We thank God for all our Stephen Ministers and pray that God will bless their ministries. We want to remind you to create an account and take part in our online church community where we can connect with each other outside our Sunday gatherings. Please note: If you have already downloaded and installed the Realm Connect app on your phone, please uninstall it until you have accepted the invitation. Maintenance - Please be mindful of the ongoing repairs to our church parking lot. We were able to repair the area in front of the FLC at the end of last year. The cracks in the asphalt are being worked on now with sealing work to come as the weather improves. There may be times when we have to mark off parts of the parking lot for this work to take place. Youth Meeting - Students, feel free to join us for our meeting TONIGHT from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the ORUMC gym and café. We have food, games, music, a message and breakout groups! Samaritan Ministries Service Project Saturday, March 30 from 8:30-11:30am. Meet at the church at 8:30am to ride the bus over. 8 Prayers and Thoughts for Lent - The Prayer Ministry of ORUMC encourages you to reflect and pray during Lent. We offer these simple thoughts and prayers to enable you to focus during the 40 days of LENT. Are you a walker? Instead of a fast, this is a spiritual feast of prayer and walking 1000 steps per day (equal to the last ½ mile of Jesus walk to the cross). Please join us. 10 HANNAH'S HAVEN Hannah's Haven is a Christ-centered addiction recovery program for women. With the help of generous partners, Hannah's Haven, a Teen Challenge Center, guides troubled women through personalized and disciplined Pathway-to-Recovery in order to transform their lives by virtue of the power of Jesus Christ. Hannah's Haven seeks to provide a safe, stable, and peaceful environment for women to establish a lifestyle free of drugs and alcohol. It is a structured program with 24-hour supervision designed to facilitate drug-free living and a successful transition into productive life. The ministry serves women ages 18 and older who have undergone medically supervised detoxification if needed. The program consists of two phases: residential for a minimum of 12 months and nonresidential for 6-12 months. All Hannah's Haven students must have commitment to their own recovery.
