We will be looking at A Handyman Service For FBC Are you frustrated with a basic household problem of one kind or another? There are a number of handymen in the congregation who have some basic skills and tools and would be willing to help you out. They may not be able to solve your problem, but they will have a look at will help you figure out where to go with your problem. The service is free. If you feel you really must pay something, a donation to FBC or some other charity would be in order. You can contract this service by phoning John Hillmer at and he will find someone to help you out! Katepwa Lake Camp Work Day The KLC needs some tender loving care. In order to accommodate this, two work days are being planned for the Saturdays of May 4 th and 11 th. Work is scheduled to begin as close to 8:00 a.m. as can be managed. Len Pauls ( ) and Jim Olesen ( ) will be leaving FBC around 7:30 a.m. and would offer rides to anyone interested in participating. 10 The Canadian Bible Society Ladies Auxiliary tea will be held on Tuesday, May 7 th from 1:30 to 4:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church on 12 th and Ottawa. Tickets are $1.00 at the door and all are welcome. BOTTLE RECYCLING We are still in need of at least one person with a car who will assume responsibility for the bottle recycling. Besides being a service to many of our seniors, the proceeds go toward paying off church debt. Responsibilities involve picking up bottles at the church about once every 3-4 weeks, taking them to Sarcan and returning the money to the church office. If you are able to donate about 2 hours a month to undertake this ministry, please contact the church office. 11 HOLY COMMUNION NEXT SUNDAY: BE PREPARED! Next Sunday, if the Lord tarries, we intend to celebrate Holy Communion. We are told in Scripture that only those who are followers of Christ, living in obedience to Him, should receive the bread and the wine. We are also told that before receiving we are diligently to examine our relationship with Christ. Just as the benefit is great, if with a penitent heart and genuine faith we receive; so also is the danger great, if we receive without repentance and faith. Such reflection and examination should lead us to repent of any known sin and so far as is within our power, to be reconciled with any from whom we are estranged. We need to ask ourselves if we have truly and earnestly repented all our sins, are in love and charity with our neighbours and whether we are leading lives which are glorifying and pleasing to our Lord. If, after such examination and repentance, a person is still unable to quiet his or her own conscience, you are encouraged to meet with one of our pastors to receive such spiritual counsel from Scripture as may be needed. As a way of guiding your examination, you might choose carefully to read the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) wherein Jesus gives a description of what one of His followers should look like. You might also choose to read and reflect upon our church covenant, which is printed below for your convenience: We, the members of First Baptist Church, Regina, covenant together to walk with Christ and each other in the fellowship of Holy love, to gather together regularly for united worship, to search the Scriptures for understanding of the Christian way of life, to serve God and each other in love and humility. We will recognize the worth of each individual within our community, regardless We will uphold each other in prayer and will offer kindness, forgiveness, and mercy to each other as Christ has offered to us. We will give cheerfully of our time, talents honour Him in all that we say and do at church, in our homes, and at our places of employment. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we will seek to follow Christ throughout our lives. 10

13 LINE OF CREDIT CAMPAIGN UPDATE: First Baptist Church has an operating line of credit. Two years ago, because of your vision and commitment, we were able to reduce the accumulated debt on that line of credit. We also permanently reduced the maximum amount we could access from $80,000 to $65,000. The Deacons, Legacy Planning Committee and Treasurer believe it is prudent that before the official launch of DULF (Double Up Legacy Fund) on June 9 th, we further reduce the indebtedness on the line of credit. If you are willing and able to assist in this campaign over and beyond your regular weekly offering please mark your gift clearly for LINE OF CREDIT CAMPAIGN.
