Lewis Commemorative Art Show at FBC To commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of C.S. L (Nov.22, 1963), an exhibition of visual art and creative writing is being organized to be held in our church. This is a call for interested artists and writers and members of the congregation who may own original artworks that they would lend for display. We are particularly looking for writing (poetry and short stories) and artworks (including painting, drawing, photography and sculpture) that are creative expressions of faith. Ryan Arnott will be in the east side of the foyer with a handout and more information after the service. 6

8 Up Next For the Tuesday Evening Adult Discussion Group Oct 1 Through Oct 22 We are looking at a PBS documentary by David Grubin on Prince Siddhartha Guatama, born sometime between 570 BCE and 410 BCE, who became known as Buddha. In a world of unavoidable pain and suffering, he found a serenity that he taught others to find also. We will be discussing if there is anything that we, as Christians, can learn from his life. Keep looking in the bulletin for what our group has next. TNT offers supper at 5:15! $7 per person. Discussion starts 6:00. If you don't usually come to TNT, let the church know you are coming to join in the fellowship and discussion. NEW DIRECTORIES First Baptist Church is planning on printing new directories for all families in the church near the end of October. Hopefully to have the most up to date information possible, there will be copies of the current directory on the tables in the east and west foyers. Please take the time to look at one of these copies before or after Sunday service and make any corrections to your information. The copies will be in the foyers for the next few weeks to allow for those changes to be made in our database in the office. The entire team will be following and more by visiting fivekennys.blogspot.ca Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (Lebanon) - nt cracked down on province were burned along with more than 80 churches across Egypt. From our balcony, we could see the house of the governor burning. As the State of Emergency was declared, we organized prayer groups (over the internet) because the curfew began at 7 p.m. every night and very happy that people got together and prayed together even over the phones. We tried to meet up in houses as much as we could to pray. It is then that I truly understood what it meant in the book of Acts for the disciples to gather and pray for Peter to be released from prison A full newsletter with more stories out of Egypt and ABTS can be found in our foyer. ABTS is part of the Lebanese Society for Education and president, overseeing the training and teaching of pastors and leaders from across the Middle East. Remember to keep fellow Christians living and ministering in countries across the Middle East and Asia in your prayers. 9

They have a director, but one wonders why: No one in the choir deigns turn him an eye. But each singer slouches with nose in the book. Despite the offenses, the music rings out. The folks in the pews are enraptured, no doubt. Their faces are blissful, their thoughts appear deep, But it is no wonder, for they are asleep! 10
