OPERATING BUDGET REPORT 2014: Year to Date Budget Amount needed for Operating: $415,980 Amount Received for Operating: $369,980 Operating Expenses $405,531 **Operating Line of Credit (owing): $35,000 **This number is the amount we currently owe on our operating line of credit. A line of credit is a loan whereby a bank agrees to give a borrower access to a set amount of money that can be tapped as and if needed. First Baptist Church has an operating line of credit to a maximum of $40,000. 6

HIS KIDS FOR CHRISTMAS Debby Nelson has been invited to prepare a group of His Kids, ages 5 and up, to sing for our December 21 st intergenerational worship service. His Kids would meet in the Lower Hall Sunday mornings at 10:25-10:50 a.m. starting November 23 rd. This exciting His Kids possibility is totally dependent upon whether or not there is enough interest. Please let Debby, Joel or John know A.S.A.P. if your children would participate and what ages they are. This information will be most helpful to Debby in the selection of music. 3. CHRISTMAS GLORY TUNE-UP Traditional tune-up for CHRISTMAS GLORY Saturday, November 22 nd at 8:30 9:15 a.m. breakfast/9:15 10:30 a.m. rehearsal. SEASONAL SINGERS & EXALTATION are encouraged to come out! 10 EBOLA REPORT Thank you everyone at FBC for your generosity. From your regular giving which makes up the Mission budget, we were able to give $ The total for the October fundraising was $2,500.00, more than matching the beginning amount. We have sent a check for $4, to CBM for the work of their partner in Liberia and will report back to you. CANADIAN BAPTIST MINISTRIES REPORT Lebanon has become a shelter for the persecuted and terrorized. Some of the refugees are Christian Iraqis fleeing their country after being threatened by Muslims who give them one choice leave or be killed with your family. Some are Syrians with Muslim backgrounds fleeing their country because of everything to live in a foreign land. One Iraqi refugee fled after losing two of her children two young men who were delivering water in another part of the country. When they arrived at their destination, people were waiting to kill them. When I met this woman she was devastated and constantly weeping over her loss. We prayed with her and invited her to our weekly Bible study. She never misses a meeting and we can see that her sorrow is slowly being healed by the love of Jesus. I work with Heart for Lebanon, a Christian non-government organization trying to help refugees. We give food packages to refugee families. We also visit with them, listening to their stories and asking if they would like us to hunger for prayer and friendly relationships led us to start a Bible study for women refugees. It has become such a blessing. Many of the women tell us how much these meetings are a source of comfort, peace and hope as they discover who Jesus really is and how great His love is for all people. Heart for Lebanon has started literacy classes for refugee children who miss going to school and are happy at the chance to continue learning. Their parents are happy and amazed by the care and love we give their children. 9

11 We have also started an ESL class for mothers and open each session with a Bible passage and prayer. After class we have added a social session to help women discuss the issues they face and offer spiritual counsel. love can help with any anxiety, pain or problem. Churches are also being transformed through this refugee crisis. They have started to reach out and care for the refugees in their neighbourhoods. With the help of CBM and its partner, the Lebanese Society for Educational & Social Development, food vouchers and other aid is distributed and families are visited, counseled and prayed with. We are amazed to see Syrian refugees arrive to church on Sunday before anyone else and stay for the whole service. They are eager to discover who Christ is. They see what Christians are like by the way they are being treated by them. that his true followers willingly act on his command to love and to care immensely for the poor and the foreigner in their midst. ~SERMON NOTES~ 10
