She first met Paul when he was with a group of preachers who visited a prayer group meeting beside a river. This business may have earned her enough money to have a large house. Lydia invited Paul and his companions to stay with her while they were in Philippi. Lydia is a good example of taking the things that you have and using these things for God s glory. BRENDAN WOMENS BOOK CLUB June s book is entitled Rich in Years by Johann Christoph Arnold. This book shares stories of people, in growing older, who have found peace and purpose in this chapter of their lives. Arnold helps us rediscover the spiritual riches aging has to offer. Any questions, call Berni at or Anneliese at KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS CORNER Each year, on Flag day June 14, the Knights present a Patriotic Service Award to a family that properly and proudly displays our American Flag at their home. This year we presented Patricia and Michael Baumann the award in a brief ceremony after Mass on Sunday. They have a large flag pole with the American flag and one honoring the Marine Corps. Semper Fi Mike. Remember the 4th of July Parade will be capped off with a hug free BBQ at our Hall celebrating our Council s 40th Anniversary. Plan on stopping by and meeting some of the founders of the Fr. Justin P. Garvey Council. Hotdogs and hamburgs will be served from about 1:30 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 4th. The area Knights of Columbus are again hosting the District BBQ Competition to find out who makes the best BBQ. Circle your calendars for Saturday, July 25, 11:00 am 4:00 pm. HEART 2 HEART PACKETS For the homeless and economically hurting people we all see on the street corners with signs asking for our help. The St. Brendan Heart 2 Heart packets will contain a $5 gift card to McDonalds, a $10 coupon for a coat, shoes or a blanket at local thrift shops, a card announcing the free dinner at St. Brendan on Thursday evenings and a holy card. These items are enclosed in a personal not card with a bible verse and handwritten words of encouragement. Cost to parishioners is $5...SVDP Society will cover the $5 cost if a person decides to use the $10 coupon. Jesus asks us to feed the hungry and clothe the naked. Now you can do this with a smile as you share your love of Jesus with a Heart to Heart packet available after Masses in the Narthex weekend of June 27/28. BRENDAN SCHOOL & PARISH GOLF TOURNAMENT Saturday, September 12 at Harbour Pointe Registration forms for individuals as well as foursomes are available in the, the Parish Office and the kiosk in the Narthex. Registration is also open online on the school s website. The cost for this event is $125 a player. This price includes entry into all events and contests, 18 holes of golf, riding cart, dinner and various awards. There will be a 1:30 shotgun start and golfing will be followed by an awards banquet in the clubhouse. Dinner tickets are also available for non-golfers to join in on the fun! All proceeds from the golf tournament benefit the Fr. Mike Schmitt Tuition Assistant Fund.
