They had a phenomenal journey, learning and being immersed in many true Malawi moments. They met with and have proposed a Sister Parish relationship with Namalaka/St. Joseph s parish in the mangochi diocese on the southeast shore of Lake Malawi. They readily agreed. We have since presented our covenant proposal to Fr. Jim and the Pastoral Council. They are discerning their response. PLEASE SAVE THE DATES...Come hear our adventures! Wednesday, July 29, at 6:00 pm for the 5th Wednesday Faith Formation Family Potluck where we will give a trip report and film. All are welcome Sunday, August 23, at 4:00 pm (tentative time) for a Malawi meal, an evening with Bishop Montfort Stima (our host and travel guide) and a full trip report and film. Special Note: This trip was fully funded by the folks who traveled there. No parish financing available. PAGE 3

4 Vacation Bible Camp Was just the beginning of our year in Children & Family Ministry Parents have lots of questions. Here are a few answers to Frequently Asked Questions. Big planning meeting Sat., Aug 1, 6:00-8:00 pm, Upper Brendan House. Everyone is welcome. What programs will be in place for preschoolers? In we will continue with Little Disciples. During the summer we have been meeting in the narthex. We will go back to the school beginning in October. Our new streamlined plan will be available soon. We would love your input and ideas in Andrea s . How does preparation work for First Communion? In the program that used to be called Pathways is now Disciples Club. Dates are Wed October 4 through Wed May 11 (always 6:00-7:30 pm). Disciples Club will feature weekly sessions with lots of fun new ways to learn about the Catholic faith. We devote 15 minutes every Wednesday to learning all the prayers the Archbishop wants us to learn, in the language we speak at home. You must have a FULL year of Disciples Club OR last year s Pathways OR Catholic School before preparing for 1st Communion. There will be exactly FIVE sessions for First Reconciliation, still on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:30. December 2, 9, January 6, 13, 20. First Reconciliation is Saturday, January 23. There will be exactly FIVE session for First Eucharist, on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:30 pm. April 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11, First Communion weekend is May 14 & 15. Are you still having Disciples club on the same Wednesdays as First Reconciliation & First Communion preparation? YES. We have 2 teams. School & Club kids prepare together. Disciples Club on those 10 Wednesdays will be for only the children who are not preparing for First Communion this year. 7 SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME In today s Gospel, Jesus had planned to slip away from the crowds for a few moments of peace and a little rest. When He saw the people gathered, however, He put His needs aside to meet the needs of others. Sometimes, as good stewards, we are called to do the same. GONE FISHING! It s vacation time! For some its fishing..for others golf, tennis or just a motor trip, any one of which changes the daily and weekly job routine. Have a good time. Keep yourself and family safe and healthy. Before you go, why not use your offering envelopes for those weeks that you ll be having fun-in-the-sun. Mail them now and you ll know you re helping your church meet bills that must be paid each week. You can be conscientious members by knowing your have contributed. God bless you!
