1 Trinity Tidings Page Trinity Tidings TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH November, 2018 WAYNE MILLET RETIRING AS MUSIC DIRECTOR Thank you, Wayne Millet, for your thirteen years of service to God and to Trinity s music program! Wayne will be leaving us at the end of December to take another position at a small Methodist church in the area and we wish him well in his new endeavors. Wayne s music direction and vocal training have enriched the quality of our music and worship at Trinity, from the pre-school TLC music education and handbell choir, to the youth and adult choirs, handbell choir, Legacy concerts, and a host of endeavors here at Trinity. Prior to coming to Trinity, Wayne served churches in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, Virginia, and the Panama Canal Zone. Wayne holds the Bachelor of Music in Sacred Music degree from Louisiana Tech University and the Master of Music in Voice from Southeastern Louisiana University. In addition to his full-time duties at Trinity, Wayne is an adjunct instructor of voice at Pensacola Junior College. He is married to Michelle and has five sons, two daughters-in-law, a granddaughter, Noelie, and a grandson, Corbin. 6 Page 6 Trinity Tidings SUNDAY SCHOOL MISSION PROJECT It is Time for OCC! This has been Trinity s 10 th year participating in Operation Christmas Child shoe box service project! Thank you for your generosity! These small shoe boxes give children a much bigger gift: HOPE. When each child receives a box they are given a storybook, in their own language, which shares the message of salvation. The impact of boxes for year old boys can be especially important, in some countries. That is the age when terrorist organizations start to recruit young men to join their cause. Through these boxes, these teenage boys receive hope that there is a God that loves them and that they have a purpose in His kingdom. Through the 10 years of doing this service project it has given our congregation more of a servant s heart. Our children see that they have the gift of time, hope and love to offer others around the globe. They know, at a young age, that their service to others has an impact that is bigger than a box. Pack in the gym at 8:45 on November 4 th SEVERAL WAYS TO HELP YOU CAN: Pack a shoe box Bring items to contribute Help pay shipping costs, ($9 per box) Pray for those giving, pray for those receiving, pray for this ministry! Help pack boxes on November 4 th Trinity Adults Nurturing Gathering Obeying TANGO will be hosted by Scott & Stephanie Peterson at 6:00 on November 16th at 4020 Potosi Road, Pensacola. ALL are WELCOME! Bring an appetizer or dessert and your favorite beverage. 7 Page 7 Trinity Tidings TRINITY KIDS CONNECTION: We will not have a TKC event in November due to the Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving holidays. Information about a December fellowship activity will be forthcoming. Update on building project with Ministry Architects: As with any remodel or new build, things go along smoothly and we are lulled into optimism and confidence that all is well. Then, there is a snag the interpretation of the plans isn t viewed quite the same by the builders and the owners. So it is necessary to review where both parties want and need to be; making necessary adjustments and then continuing together toward the goal of the project. After the input from all who attended the Summit in August where values and goals were identified (thank you to everyone who invested in this process), the RENO team felt that the results compiled by MA needed clarification and expansion to clearly state who Trinity is and where we want to go. So the team has been meeting weekly to do just that. I believe our blueprint of core values and goals now express what was shared at the Summit and the heart of Trinity. They will be shared with the Session for approval soon. We will be meeting with MA via teleconference on Oct. 1 st and expect their assistance in moving forward on implementing the next phase of our renovation. To all parents, families and Youth/Children volunteers SAVE THIS DATE: November 6, 7, and 8.MA will be here for the Youth/Children s Visioning Summit and your input is needed. Please continue to pray for the RENO team and the Ministry Architects all that we do is to bring glory to God through our service and love for one another. Eileen Mignerey Toys for Tots 2018 Toys for Tots is a program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy gifts for Christmas. The program was founded in 1947 and has collected millions of toys for disadvantaged children. Trinity Service Team has once again partnered with the Marines for the 2018 Christmas season and will be collecting new, unwrapped toys in a collection box located in the narthex. Contributions will be accepted from 5 November thru 14 December. Gifts are requested for infants thru the teen age years. Thank YOU!!
