WE ARE A NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH BY WEARING A NEW TESTAMENT NAME The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch (Acts 11:26). If you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed (I Peter 4:16). Persuade me to be a Christian (Acts 26:28). BY BELIEVING A NEW TESTAMENT CREED You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God On this rock I will build my Church (Matt. 16:16,18). For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ (I Cor. 3:11). BY OBEYING A NEW TESTAMENT BAPTISM Whoever believes and is baptized shall be saved (Mark 16:16). We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life (Rom.6:4). and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you (I Peter 3:21). BY OBSERVING A NEW TESTAMENT COMMUNION Do this in remembrance of me (Luke 22:19). On the first day of the week we came together to break bread (Acts 20:7). A man ought to examine himself (I Cor. 11:28). BY PRACTICING A NEW TESTAMENT STEWARDSHIP It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income (I Cor. 16:2). BY LIVING A NEW TESTAMENT LIFE They devoted themselves to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer (Acts 2:42). Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (II Peter 3:18). Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life (Rev. 2:10). If you notice something is running low (and you ve checked the supply closet); if you wish, you may replenish the item and submit a copy of the register receipt to the treasurer for reimbursement. 7 Sermon Notes September 2, 2018 Laborious Laborious = Work is L a b o r - IOU - s We work because we have IOU s. We work because we have IOU s to God. I) We have an IOU to God to obey His Word, which says, to earn the bread we eat. I Thessalonians 4:1 I Thessalonians 4:11 I Thessalonians 4:12 I Thessalonians 3:12 II) We have an IOU to God and His Word, which says, we have an IOU to fulfill with our parents and grandparents. I Timothy 5:4 I Timothy 5:8 I Timothy 5:16 III) We have an IOU to God and His Word, which says, witness to the world. And the world is as close as our jobs. Items needed include bottled water, food, personal hygiene products, paper & cleaning products, and basically everything from dog food to diapers.
