Now in his 25th year on staff, Don is the Pastor of Compassion. He considers it a privilege to serve the people of God, in the church of God, to the glory of God. As an elder, Don desires to represent the ministries of compassion and be a voice for those who serve in those ministries. He and Cheryl have been married for 40 years. Together, they have raised three adult children ( Josh, Tim, and Debra), who have married and blessed them with eight grandchildren. David Michael David joined the staff of College Park Church as the Pastor for Next Generations in He and his wife Sally have been married for 42 years and they have two daughters and three grandchildren. David is passionate about equipping homes and the church with resources and support for the instruction and spiritual development of our children, in the hope that the next generation will put their confidence in God. Currently, Dale serves as the Pastor of Urban Outreach. In 1986, College Park Church leaders walked alongside the couple during some dark times related to sinful addictions in Dale s life. Thirteen years later, the church hired Dale to oversee Jr. High and Outreach. The Shaws believe they are the embodiment of the College Park Core Value Extravagant Grace. They desire to treat everyone with the same grace that Jesus and College Park have shown them. Dale loves the text in Titus if anyone aspires to the office of elder, he desires a noble task and enjoys the servant nobility of serving as an elder at College Park Church. Dwight Wharton Dwight and his wife Kimberly have been members of College Park since During that time, Dwight has been involved in a number of ministries, including Campus Safety, Small Groups, and the Shepherd s Development class. 9 VOTING ITEMS Pastor of Soul Care Jeff Ballard The elders of College Park have approved the motion to present Jeff Ballard to all College Park congregations for consideration as the North Indy Pastor of Soul Care. Currently, Jeff serves as Professor of Biblical Counseling & Equipping at Crossroads Bible College in Indianapolis. Prior to that position, Jeff worked as a Campus Minister at Cornell University and, from 2009 to 2014, served in multiple capacities at College Park. In addition to leading a Small Group for four years, Jeff spent two years as a College Park Pastoral Resident, training the people of College Park in the area of biblical counseling. He is passionate about equipping God s people for compassionate, Christ-centered, one-another care. Jeff and his wife Kristen have four children: Benjamin, David, Abigail, and Luke. There will be two Q&A Opportunities with Jeff Ballard: Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Worship Arts Room and Sunday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m. in Chapel A. 9
10 Pastoral Titles The elders have approved two pastoral title changes and present them now for congregational consideration and vote at the November 11 Congregational Meeting. We feel that both of these men exhibit the qualifications and leadership as pastors at College Park Church. Brad Merchant Brad is currently serving as the Assistant Pastor of Multiplication. He is now recommended to the congregation to serve as Pastor of Leadership Development. In this role, Brad will oversee residency, leadership development, Next Door Mission strategy, and Adult Big Groups. T.C. Taylor T.C. is currently serving as the Assistant Pastor of Church Planting. He is now recommended to the congregation to serve as Lead Pastor (of the Pike church plant). In this role, T.C. will be responsible for the leadership and shepherding of the Pike Church plant, which will launch as an Incubator in January Fishers Congregation Self-Governance The Fishers Congregation has been approved by the Elder Council to come before all College Park Church congregations for a vote to become self-governing. Self-governance means that College Park Fishers will be a local church with complete governing authority. Although College Park Fishers will be a separate, legal entity from College Park Church, it will continue to partner with the College Park Family of Churches within the Next Door Mission. As a self-governing church, College Park Fishers will be able to: Establish its own membership Form its own Elder Council Create governing documents such as a Code of Bylaws, Member Covenant, Membership Confession, and a Confession of Faith Incorporate as a 501(c)(3) entity As a launched church of College Park North Indy, College Park Fishers will continue to express the DNA of College Park Church in its unique context. Ministry coaching and relationships among all of the College Park Church congregations will continue to occur. Outside of Next Door Mission related initiatives that include church planting and voluntary ministry collaboration with other College Park congregations, College Park Fishers will be fully devoted to the contextualization of ministry in Fishers and the surrounding community. What is the plan for the name of the church in Fishers? Although College Park Fishers has greatly benefited from using the College Park Church name, we are planning for the Fishers church and eventually all new congregations to rename at some point before or after self-governance. 10
