Trinity Tidings Page Trinity Tidings TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH March, 2018 Update on Ministry Architects Church Consultants Work With Trinity Thank you for participating in the three-day consultation with Ministry Architects in February as we explored bright prospects for Trinity s ministries and missions. The Session is now reviewing the consultants proposals and financial contract and will decide this month how we will proceed. A few highlights of the proposed 18-month timeline are as follows: March/April 2018 We begin addressing pressure points and program concerns named in the assessment report. Church database management software and communications get major attention. Website and WIFI renovations get underway, and we plan for 3-day vision summit in May. May/June 2018 We focus on operations manual, clarify volunteer needs across the array of ministries, create a 12-month major events calendar and 12-month ministries calendar, with built-in preventive maintenance reminders what needs to be done now for events months ahead? Financial policies and on-line giving and payment options will be addressed. July/August 2018 Evaluation and revisions of our Session and committee structures and operations. Small group ministries proposals; exploring our worship style and planning; assessing our children, youth, and family ministries. September/October 2018 Volunteer leadership training and assimilation; update job descriptions for all volunteers and staff, navigation for new leaders/committees, Session structure and leadership developments. Mid-course review and Summit progress to date, clarification of major goals and objectives. November/December 2018 Annual performance reviews of staff, teams, volunteers. Church wide fellowship events explored; the good news of good work being done at Trinity is shared with wider audience in the community and Presbytery. We have a busy schedule for the months ahead! Thank you for your passion and love for Trinity and for God s kingdom work in our community! I look forward to your input and service.
Page 2 Trinity Tidings The Youth leave behind a busy February and enter what will be a full and active March. The Youth enjoyed two spirited Super Bowl parties at the beginning of the month. Thank you to our host families and everyone who contributed snacks and drinks. The Valentine s Luncheon was a very special event, and the Youth put in a lot of work Friday night and throughout the day on Sunday. It was a great event and offered an important opportunity for our church to gather as a family, hear one another s stories, and enjoy a time of fellowship. The following week we took eleven of our youth to Dogwood Acres for the annual Dogwood Youth Conference. Beautiful weather and the peacefulness of Dogwood Acres made for a great retreat. I m writing this before the fireworks of Rummage Sale, but our Youth have done yeoman s work in getting everything ready for Friday and Saturday. As we look ahead in March we have several important events on the calendar: 11 th Youth Sunday Planning. Please make every effort to attend, as we ll plan the service, assign roles, and explore what the Youth want to do for this service. 18 th Toby Mac Concert 25 th Beginning of Spring Break, No Youth Event. As always, times flies, and it s incredible to see the work our Youth and parents put into this ministry. Ministry Architects confirmed what was already known: Trinity has a strong youth ministry due to the commitment from parents and youth. Thank you for your service, selflessness, and passion. Grace & Peace, Brian
Page 3 Trinity Tidings Mission Brunch will feature director of Women with Clear Vision Women's Homeless Shelter Right here in our community, there are women struggling for the bare necessities. Fortunately, there are also women like Ingar Scott, with the clear vision to see and understand the needs of area women who are homeless, or in transition from incarceration. With those thoughts in mind, she formed Women with Clear Vision, an organization that offers temporary shelter and support for women in desperate need. The faith-based, non-profit group was created by Scott and a team of volunteers who committed their efforts to respond to those needs. Fortunately, an area church provided a suitable building to house the shelter. Outfitting the shelter took perseverance. The founders appealed to the military and the local community for donations of beds, blankets, sheets and cleaning supplies. The organization's journey to create a shelter to provide for troubled women is both complex and moving. On March 6th at 10:30 a.m., you will have the opportunity to hear Ms. Scott's inspirational story about the formation of Women with Clear Vision when we meet for our annual Mission Brunch in the Trinity parlor. Ms. Scott, executive director of the mission, will share ideas on how we may assist the women's shelter. Please check your Sunday bulletins and s for a list of needed supplies to help this vital mission. We hope you will join us for this special gathering. Mission Brunch refreshments will be provided by Trinity Presbyterian Women Circles.
Dear Friends, Thank you so very much for remembering me in prayer at this time. I still have some problems that the doctor is addressing and time will tell what the future holds. But we know who holds the future and I cling to that. You are much appreciated. Sincerely, Lunette Wilson (mother of Ginger Caro) Dear Family of God, Again, thank you for your continued prayers. I broke my wrist Dec. 6 and am recovering. On the cancer side however, my numbers keep climbing in spite of a third type of chemo. It s been a bit more than a year on chemo! At any rate, the doctor ordered a PET scan which will show more than a CT scan. Please pray for a workable answer and strength to finish this academic year. Thank you, in Christ, Lynda Jewett Dear Youth Group and Leaders, Thank you so much for the lovely Valentine s Luncheon. It was delicious and the service was exceptional. With that, and the attention to every detail, I give you a 4-Star rating! You are a wonderful part of Trinity and Trinity s future. You consistently exceed expectations in all that you do. Keep up the good work and know that you are appreciated all the time. God s great blessings to all of you. Sincerely, Dottie Schwatka Dear Colette Obray and Youth of Trinity, Thank you for the wonderful Valentine Dinner. It was soooo good and pretty. So sorry I missed being at the church, but it was a little too rainy that day. Thanks to Stephanie for bringing it to me. So nice for all the work and through that went into it. Love, Ann Vick FREE FEDERAL INCOME TAX FILING ASSISTANCE The AARP Tax Aide program, sponsored by the IRS and the AARP Foundation, offers free federal income tax filing assistance to low to moderate income taxpayers with a special emphasis on those over 50. 7 Page 7 Trinity Tidings Dear Robin, It is with great pleasure that we announce the destination of the Rise Against Hunger meals you helped package on 11/19/2017. A shipping container, holding 285,120 meals, has been sent to Malawi for our partner Adventist Development and Relief Agency. If you happen to receive more than one of these announcements, your meals have gone to impact multiple partners. Adventist Development and Relief Agency is an organization that nourishes lives through food assistance and other services in Malawi. To learn more, please visit our partner/country spotlight on the Impact Stories tab and click and drag on our World Aid Map at Ending hunger is only possible if we continue to grow the movement. We encourage you to share the news about this shipment. Since 2005, volunteers like you have helped us distribute over 310 million meals worldwide. We can end hunger by 2030, but we can't do it without you. Please visit our website and continue your involvement. Consider making a donation, planning another meal packaging event (at your place of worship, school, company, civic club, etc), joining our advocacy efforts, or even inviting us to speak to a group. Share your experience with us at jackson@riseagainsthunger.org. Keep up the great work and spread the word - #2030IsPossible. Gratefully, Pat Ware Program Manager Rise Against Hunger Jackson jackson@riseagainsthunger.org

Usually this is the death of a loved one but may also be separation or estrangement, unexpected personal limitations in one s self or a loved one, retirement or job loss, moving away from familiar places, or downsizing. Grief requires that we learn to accept and adapt to changes. Grief is easier faced when in community with others as we find our way to face altered lives. As we draw on God s strength, we learn to rest in His comfort. Grief Support at Trinity meets for formal study, reflection and mutual support Monday afternoons for 12 weeks starting in the autumn and throughout the year on the third Monday of each month for dinner and an opportunity to catch-up with one another or to address specific problems as needed. New members are welcomed at any time throughout the year and need not be members of Trinity. Please contact the church, Sally or Dale Zorn, or Sue Coleman for more information.
