LARGE PRINT SERVICE S are available on the narrow table in the narthex. AS WE GATHER Our Creator has woven the gift of rest into the fabric of His creation. If God Himself enjoyed His day of rest, His Sabbath, shouldn t we? Rest isn t a good work that we do to please God. Rest is the absence of our work; it s receiving the grace that is offered to us through Christ s work on the cross of Good Friday and the empty tomb of Easter. Today our gracious Father invites us to enter into His rest, His Sabbath, sharing in the benefits of what His Son has done. Jesus has already done the work savor it! Rest in His presence as He serves you with His living and active Word and as He prepares His Table of grace for you to enjoy. FOR THOSE PARTAKING OF THE LORD'S SUPPER: The Apostle Paul writes in I Cor. 11:27, 29, "Anyone who eats the bread or drinks the Lord's cup in an unworthy way is guilty of sinning against the Lord's body and blood. Anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the Lord's body brings judgment on himself as he eats and drinks." In view of the serious nature of the Lord's Supper, Paul commands us to examine ourselves to see if we are partaking the supper for the purposes for which Christ instituted with our hearts properly prepared. We heartily invite Confirmed members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod to receive of the Lord's Supper. Anyone else, we ask you to see the Pastor first for instruction so that you might receive the supper to your benefit rather than to your harm as the Apostle Paul warns. CLEANING CLOSETS?? Bring your boots, snow pants, coats (any sizes - toddler/children to adult sizes) to the church and will be taken to Mid Sioux. CANDY DONATIONS we are asking for Candy Donations - bags of candy for the Trunk or Treat for those who are participating / decorating their vehicle. See laundry basket in Narthex to drop off your candy donations. SPECIAL OFFERING will be taken during the announcement time next weekend 10/27 & 10/28 and the next weekend 11/3& 11/4, for Thanksgiving meat certificates for Mid Sioux. WE HAVE MADE CHANGES TO SUNDAY MORNING KIDS PROGRAM : The Board of Education has had to make changes to our Get off the Pew: Sunday Service Project Due to the lack of volunteers (an extra set of hands, taking kids from one activity to the next, etc.) We are changing our Sunday Program of Preschool-7 th grade (everyone) to once a month. The next one will be Sunday, Nov. 4 from 9:15-10:15AM. THERE WILL BE NO PRESCHOOL-4 TH GRADE THIS SUNDAY PLEASE NOTE - GRADES 5 TH -7 TH will be every week from 9:15-10:15AM. They will do Hand Chimes with Trisha for part of the time and also tie quilts with Susan, or a service project, craft, game or a Bible Study lesson for part of the time. TRUNK OR TREAT on Wednesday, October 31, from 5:15-7:00PM, you can leave early if you need to take your kids trick or treating. We will set up on the block of the Godbersen Park/King Theater/Lewis Drug. The city will have the street blocked off to traffic. The Chamber Pumpkin Parade will be in that area as well at 5:45PM. There will be NO MIDWEEK CLASSES on Wednesday, October 31. We encourage our members to participate in either decorating their trunk / back of their car, or by bringing your kids Trick or Treating. 3 BIBLE STUDIES SUNDAY ADULT BIBLE 9:15 AM Sundays in the Fellowship Hall. Courageous Heroes of the Faith will introduce you to the cultural setting and life story of biblical characters, examine the joys and challenges they faced, and show how God forgave, sustained, and empowered them to serve Him. This study includes: Noah, Rahab, Jonathan, Hezekiah, Mary & Martha and Apollos. As you progress through the 6-session study, you will learn how God chooses ordinary people people like you to do His extraordinary work. HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE CLASS Every Sunday at 9:15AM this does includes 8 th grade THEOLOGY AT THE HUT led by Pastor Neil. Bible Study will meet weekly on Tuesdays at 6pm at Pizza Hut. We still welcome you to come at any time to join us! WEDNESDAY EARLY MORNING BIBLE STUDY - 6:30AM at Zimmy s, WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY - 9:30 AM in the lower level Conference Room. It is tied in with our Cross Explorations theme and we are starting with the Old Testament please join us for the opening at 5:45PM or Bible Study is from 6:00-7:00PM in the fellowship hall. SEWING MACHINES, we are looking for portable and in working condition sewing machines for some of our Service Projects we are looking to do, the sewing machines must be in working condition and portable.
