1 St. Paul s Episcopal Church Chittenango, New York The Good News Volume 13 Issue 5 May 2017 Special Events May 4th National Day of Prayer, First Baptist Church at 7:00 PM with Pastor Dan May 6th and 7th Walleye Derby on Oneida Lake at Oneida Shores County Park May 14th Mother s Day Brunch May 14th Bishop DeDe s visit to St. Peter s, Cazenovia May 18th Spring Plant Sale 9-3 at Memorial Park, Albany St., Cazenovia June 2-4th Oz-Extravaganza June 18th Father s Day Strawberry Festival What s in Store for May Easter Day has come and gone but the Easter Season is still with us. I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter and were glad to hear the good news that Jesus has risen and our sins are washed away in his blood. We here at St. Paul s are going on. This is due a great deal to the wonderful people of St Paul s who are always there to help and be with us. Father Leon is a great joy to us and of course Father Charlie is our greatest kept secret. He is always there for us when we need a calming head to guide us. He has been of tremendous help to me in all ways. Father Charlie and Joan are wonderful people. Won t you come and say hello to Father Leon and Father Charlie. At the beginning of the year it is always a question, can we go on another year. Every year so far the congregation has answered that question, with yes we can. I am happy to say that we are holding our own. We have also increased our congregation with more people attending our Sunday services. Welcome everyone! In a couple of weeks we will be celebrating Mother s Day with a pancake breakfast. Can t wait. It is always a joy when we can sit back and have the men cook and wait on us. Of course we women will be holding a Strawberry Sunday for the men in a month or so. We have begun to have some classes for those who want to participate further in their help, i.e. LEM and acolyte training. Father Leon has been great with these lessons. If you feel the call, please feel free to call me anytime and I can get you started. A big thanks goes out to our Vestry. They have been hard at work learning what needs to be done and stepping forward to do the job. Hopefully in the near future we will begin to work on the back steps leading to the upstairs. We are getting the estimates and will be looking for grants to get this done. Mike has been doing a great job with this. Way to go Mike! Part of the steeple fell off in the yard and Mike picked it up and made a new one. Thank you Mike. (Continued on Page 2) OUR MISSION STATEMEN T St. Paul s Episcopal Church in Chittenango, New York exists to restore all people to unity with each other and with God in Jesus Christ.
