The Lord is risen indeed!!! We have been waiting not only for His coming since Advent, but for ours as well. Because, with all thanks to God, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is all about us! All as intended by God. Being the people of the Resurrection means that we have already given our lives completely to God through Jesus. To be sincere disciples of Jesus in following his way to come into relationship with God the Father, we have to do it the way he did it: taking the greatest risk that any person could take through the heartfelt, sincere, outpouring of control of one s life. Saying literally, God, here is my life. Here I am. Take control of me, and let me become who you would have me be. Have we done that? Can we do that? Our world churns on, day after day, in strife, and agony, and suffering. We live in a culture, a world of wanton sex, of violence, of horror, of suspense, of drama. NOT a culture or a world of peace, of love, of compassion, of mutual respect. Jesus wants us to do it differently. To live life another way. Away from all of the despair, the violence, the disruption, the drama that our lives often drop into. In this Easter season, we are reminded of new life, of new possibilities. It is the old story being retold, and relived over and over again. Jesus points us to a different way of living life, all in a very calm and loving and reassuring way...indeed, following the Way. In being reborn, we are called into making deeper commitments. A renewed, heartfelt and primary world view...with God s help...to live our lives in passionate thanksgiving to God for all that we are blessed with...particularly now during Easter. With a joyful heart, move your life into one of stewardship of all of God s gifts...giving Praise and Thanksgiving with all that we have, and all that we are. In the Love of Christ, Fr. 7 The Training & Resources Team of the diocesan Commission on Ministry has opened registration for the 2018 Ministry Fair: Arms Wide Open. Saturday, May 12th, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Holiday Inn Convention Center, Liverpool Focused on tools, skills and practices for individuals and congregations embracing God-driven change, this year's Ministry Fair has something for everyone. Twenty hands-on workshops include: The Daring Way (TM): Wholehearted Living Using Data for Ministry Discernment Photos from the Heart (and your smartphone!) Stewardship as Spiritual Practice Invitational Evangelism...and more! **Anyone wanting to attend this Fair please see Fr. Latimer, Jane Padron, Brenda Outwater, Jennifer Swinney, Sue Lee, Willkie Talmadge, Rick Weltz Also Present: Mike Rescigno, Treasurer,, Clerk Excused: Bill Moore Proceedings: Meeting called to order at 6:10 PM Opening prayer led by Jane Padron A motion to accept the minutes of January 22, 2018 meeting as presented was made by Brenda Outwater; Second By: Sue Lee; Motion passed. A motion to accept the agenda as presented was made by: Willie Talmadge; Second By: Brenda Outwater; Motion passed. Treasurer s Report: January s totals reflected an unexpected and additional costs. (i.e roof and boiler repairs, and Celebration of a New Ministry) A motion to accept the Treasurer s report as presented was made by: Brenda Outwater; Second By: Jane Padron; Motion passed. Care: A vacancy is available to chair the Care committee Have a list of Lay Eucharistic Visitors; a class will be offered soon for anyone else that wants to follow this ministry Fr. Heidt will send out Birthday cards for now Outreach: Sandi Pineiro has expressed an interest to helping out with the Blessing of the Animals Movie Night will be Thursday, March 1 st with the showing of Queen of Katwe Blessing of the Bikes most likely will be the third Thursday in April-Going to check with Bishop DeDe to make sure her date does not conflict Property: Glad Tidings 7

8 National Grid Lighting program total cost is about $7,400 with the cost to Zion at $3,700; Savings about $1,700 a year. National Grid is tabled until next meeting and vestry members to receive a hard copy of the report from National Grid Speakers are still a distraction to the service; Fr. Heidt will take a look at it Need to get sand for the cigarette containers waiting for storms to pass before setting up Salting of the parking lot is done by Jones Landscaping-we need to look into a better solution to make sure they are notified when parking lot needs to be salted Zion has been put on the back burner in the DRI grant /reason for this we needed to get matching funds and put up $75,000 We need to look at the bigger picture of what is the call of this church and where do we go from here Worship: The vestry and congregation is blessed to have Deacon Barbara Groves with us in this ministry Holy week services times are as follows; o Maundy Thursday-6 PM in Clarke Hall with service, foot washing, and agape meal; then Stripping of Altar in Sanctuary o Good Friday Liturgy Noon & 7 PM in sanctuary o Holy Saturday Great Vigil starts in Clarke Hall at 7 PM o Easter Sunday 9 Am Thank You Jane Padron for the nice job on the Shrove pancake Supper we had a good show of people A new organist has been chosen-erick Kroll passed all background checks and is a cradle Episcopalian he will be the Organist and Music Director for Zion-Official start date will be Mid-March; Organ training has been offered as part of the employment benefits Fundraising: No Report Jr. Warden: No Report Sr. Warden: Sandie will start pursuing grants and anybody that would like to help she would be appreciative Clergy Report: Fr. Heidt officially welcomed Brenda Outwater to the vestry and welcomed back Jennifer Swinney for her continued presence; Zion is blessed to have both of them as part of the vestry.
