ANOINTING OF THE SICK If you are sick and go to the hospital, please call the parish office This will allow us to arrange that you have the Sacrament of the Sick and a Pastoral Visit. Also, Eucharist is brought once a week to those in the hospital by a Pastoral Team member.

2 1ST RECONCILIATION/EUCHARIST Grade 3 & up will begin October 4, 2015 with a PARENT MEETING ONLY! Registration forms are available in the entrance of the church. Please complete the form for your child attach a copy of their Baptism Certificate, if necessary. (Bapt. Cert required only if Baptised in a parish other than Our Lady of Good Counsel) Either drop off at the parish office or in the parish collection basket. - - Beginning in September.. BIBLE STUDY to be held on Mondays from 6:30 8:00 p.m. in the parish hall beginning Monday, September 26th. The sessions will be held on Mondays for 24 weeks. Pre-Registration is required by Friday, Sept., 16th. Please contact Cathy, our parish office at , and leave your name & phone number. You will then be contacted by a Team Member with further details. Life is Precious Ministry is holding a General Meeting on Thursday, September 8 th at 7 p.m. in the Blessed Margaret room. If you are concerned about life issues please join us! It is our hope to build a Culture of Life that respects and protects all alike, particularly the most vulnerable, the unborn, persons with disabilities, Eucharistic Adoration Ministry of Sault Ste. Marie Adoration Chapel Located at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church The Roman Catholic community of the City of Sault Ste. Marie is privileged to have an Adoration Chapel where Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is present at all times. This Chapel is located in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 114 MacDonald Avenue. We are running into difficulties where a lot of the Adorers are getting to an age where they are unable to attend the Chapel due to sickness or lack of transportation. The Chapel is open from 6:00 a.m. until Midnight. Anyone can drop in for a visit during that time; however, we do need adorers committed to a weekly visit for an hour. We urgently require an Adorer for the hours of: Wednesday, 9pm-10pm; Friday, 9pm-10pm Sunday, 11am-12 Noon; 4 pm-5pm; 5 pm 6pm & 6pm-7pm Please call one of the following coordinators of the Chapel if you would like to come to the Chapel to experience the peace and tranquility of spending one hour weekly with Jesus: Susanne Quinn-Perron ; Angela Rasaiah ; and Raffaela Medaglia FRIENDSHIP MEAL.. Now looking at 2017: We are now into our 9th year of hosting Friendship Meals on the third Sunday of every month. We currently need hosts in 2017 for April, May, September, October, November & December (no meals in July or August).. **Just a thought: if your group/family/friends is too small to do it alone.let us know and perhaps we can combine 2(3) groups together to lighten the load. Funds are available to assist with the cost, please remember the parish has funds designated to help. Please consider hosting a meal next year, contact the Parish Office we need to have 2017 covered by September 30th 2016.

If you are interested in knitting for our Winter Woollies Program and need some yarn, the yarn will be available in the large hall after the following Masses on September 10 th & 11 th, and 17 th & 18 th. There is yarn for scarves, toques, socks, mittens, sweaters etc. Please come and choose your yarn, thank you! Your involvement with this program is very much appreciated! Judith, Claudette & Roberta CHILDREN S LITURGY NEEDS YOUR HELP. contact Fr. Paul. Children s Liturgy is held at the Mass on Sundays for ages 5 to 12 Fr. Paul calls forth the children during the opening of Mass. St. Jerome Parish s leaders of Children s Liturgy are having a workshop on Saturday, Sept., 10th - 9:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We invite any interested leaders from your parish as well as any people who are discerning whether or not to become involved in Children s Liturgy. We will be talking about resources, sharing experiences and learning about how the New Evangelization relates to what we do with the children. Child care will be available onsite and lunch will be served at noon at the conclusion of the workshop. There is no charge for the workshop. We hope that some of your team will be able to join us. I will send out another notice about this closer to the first of September; I just wanted everyone to be aware that this is upcoming. 4 PRAYER MINISTRY FOR THE IMPRISONED The names have been submitted; the letters have been ed; and for those with NO , your letters are available for pickup at the office or in the Sacristy. So we have begun our PRAYER MINISTRY for 1 year. If you have signed up & have not received your letter, then check with the parish office, it may be ready for pickup in the Sacristy. Rev. Mike Michalycia, Chaplain of the Remand Centre, sent this comment: Thank you for the continued Prayer Program at your church. Though I am not at liberty to share names and their stories, please be assured that I could share some great stories of challenges, change & commitment from some of the names on your list from CWL ANNOUNCEMENTS Dates to mark on your calendar! Nov. 18 th, & 19 th, 2016 will be Our ANNUAL CWL BAZAAR, OLD TREASURERS & BAKE TABLE. This year we re making our famous meat pies & apple pies. Canonization of Blessed Mother Teresa of Kolkata On Thursday, December 17th, 2015 Pope Francis authorized the Congregation for the Causes of Saints to promulgate a decree regarding a miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed Teresa. The Pope s approval for these decrees came during a private audience with Cardinal Angelo Amato SDB, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. Blessed Teresa, known around the world as Mother Teresa was born August 26, 1910 in Skopje, then part of the Kosovo Vilayet in the Ottoman Empire, into a Kosovar Albanian family. She was the foundress of the Congregation of the Missionaries of Charity. It s been almost nineteen years since Mother Teresa suffered a heart attack and died at 87 years old on Sept. 5, 1997 in Calcutta. Mother Teresa was proclaimed blessed by her friend, St. John Paul II, on October 19, A crowning gift of the Jubilee of Mercy will be Mother Teresa's canonization by Pope Francis in Let us ask this great woman of faith to intercede for a world at war, nations filled with fear, terror and dread. May this tiny woman and towering spiritual giant help us to open the doors of our nations, communities, homes and hearts to welcome strangers and offer them hospitality and love. May soon-to-be St. Teresa of Calcutta pray for us and teach us how to love God and neighbor in unity and harmony. May she teach us how to be the face of mercy and charity in our world today.

5 so precious in your eyes. Bring healing to our lives, that we may protect the world and not prey on it, that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction. Touch the hearts of those who look only for gain at the expense of the poor and the earth. Teach us to discover the worth of each thing, to be filled with awe and contemplation, to recognize that we are profoundly united with every creature as we journey towards your infinite light. We thank you for being with us each day. Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle for justice, love and peace. In our daily lives we must see that it's not happiness that makes us grateful, but gratefulness that makes us happy. There is always, always, always something to be thankful for. He states, "The annual World Day of Prayer for the care of Crea on offers to individual believers and to the community a precious opportunity to renew our personal par cipa on in the voca on as custodians of crea on, raising to God our thanks for the marvellous works that He has entrusted to our care, invoking his help for the protec on of crea on and his mercy for the sins commi ed against the world in which we live.
