2 PARISH FOOD DRIVE wishes to remind all parishioners that next weekend, March 31st & April 1st (Easter Sunday) is the monthly food drive for St Vincent Place. Their shelves are nearly bare, so please be as generous as you can with your donations of non-perishable food items. Let's help them feed the hungry. JEROME YOUTH HARDWOOD CLASSIC 3 ON 3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT The 4th Annual St. Jerome Youth Hardwood Classic 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament will be held Saturday, April 7 at St. Mary s College (868 Second Line). Boys and girls in grades 5 to 12 (ages 10-18) are invited to register a team of up to four players. Cost to register is $40.00 per team (3-4 players per team). Registration deadline is April 3, Money raised from the event will support St. Jerome EDGE Youth Nights and costs for students to attend the Steubenville Catholic Youth Conference. The following programs are open to all young people in the city: Students in Grade 6, 7, and 8: All students in this age range regardless of school or parish are invited to take part in EDGE - a Catholic Youth Night, every Thursday Night at 7:00pm at St. Jerome's Church (26 Carmel Road). Every evening is full of games, Catholic teachings, socials and food! High school Students: Registration is now open for "Made for More" the Diocesan Catholic Youth Conference happening February 24, 2018 at St. Mary's College in Sault Ste. Marie. Young Adults age 18-25: All Young Adults aged are invited to take part in Elevate - our Catholic Young Adults Group - that meets every Friday night at 6:30pm at St. Jerome's Church (26 Carmel Road). January 26 begins with a free home-cooked meal at 6:30pm, followed by a presentation/discussion on how to talk about or share your faith with your peers when it seems so difficult. Marie Adoration Chapel located at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church The Chapel is open from 6:00 a.m. until Midnight. Anyone can drop in for a visit during that time; however, we do need adorers committed to a weekly visit for an hour. 4 Life is Precious Ministry is once again announcing a dedication of 40 Days of Prayer and Eucharistic Adoration for the Sanctity of Life the unborn, disabled, elderly and terminally ill. Adoration Chapel hours are 6am to Midnight, 7 days a week. The 40 days of Prayer and Eucharistic Adoration will begin April 1, 2018 and will continue until May 10, We invite parishioners who are interested in participating in this vigil, to simply sign the log book labelled 40 days of Prayer and Eucharistic Adoration, which will be kept next to the Chapel s regular Adoration log book. 5 Terrence Prendergast This year's Summit is featuring 8 world-class Catholic speakers including: A native of Montreal, Archbishop Terrence Prendergast entered the Jesuit novitiate in 1961 and was ordained a priest in He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University, Master of Divinity and Doctor of Theology degrees from Toronto School of Theology and a Licentiate in Theology from Regis College. Archbishop Prendergast taught in Halifax at Atlantic School of Theology from , then was Rector of Toronto's Regis College from and Dean of Theology from In , he lectured as Daniel Hannin Professor at Campion College, University of Regina. From , he served as Executive Secretary of the Vatican's Apostolic Visitation of Canadian seminaries (English sector). When nominated bishop in 1995, he was Catholic Biblical Association of America Visiting Professor at the École biblique et archéologique française de Jerusalem. Named Titular Bishop of Slebte and Auxiliary Bishop of Toronto on February 22, 1995, Archbishop Prendergast received episcopal ordination in St. Michael's Cathedral, Toronto, on April 25, Appointed eleventh Archbishop of Halifax on June 30th, 1998, he was installed in St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica on September 14th that year. In January 2002, he became Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Yarmouth. In the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, he has served on its Permanent Council, been a member of the Commission for Relations with Associations of Clergy, Consecrated Life and Laity, co-chair of the national The Seven Penitential Psalms There are seven psalms that have served as a special source of prayer and reflection during Lent, for centuries. The tone of their honest pleading is compelling and invites us to turn to our Lord with the same candor and desire. Our struggles, our sins, our "enemies" - and the ways we describe them may be different, but these psalms can draw us into coming before our God, as sinners, with real needs.
