From the Rector... Dear Members of All Saints Parish Family, Jesus said, You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1.8 After Jesus ascended into heaven, the small band of Jesus followers, both men and women, gathered together, as Jesus had instructed them, waiting. Ten days after the Ascension, the waiting was over, and the promise of power from on high [Luke 24.49] became reality as the Holy Spirit was poured out on the believers in Jerusalem [Acts 2] and the Christian church was born. We celebrate this on the Feast of Pentecost [15 May]. In our Lord s own words, the purpose of the Church is to be His witnesses, wherever we are. The Holy Spirit is a gift, for all believers, whose presence and gifts enable us to be witnesses to the life, love and power of God, that we may be the church God calls us to be! It is with mixed emotions, I acknowledge the announcement of the Rt Rev Dr Stephen Andrews that he will be resigning as Bishop of Algoma, effective 31 July. His ministry and influence will be expanded as he assumes the role of Principal of Wycliffe College in Toronto. Bishop Stephen is a man of prayer and a man of the Word, who has been God s gift to us. I give thanks to God for him, his ministry and witness. His leadership in our Diocese, over the past 8 years, has been marked by grace, compassion, scholarship and wisdom. As he has been a blessing to us, he will most assuredly be a blessing to Wycliffe College, to the wider Anglican Church of Canada, and, beyond that, to the whole of the Anglican Communion. Clergy and lay delegates will be gathering for an Electoral Synod, in the autumn, in order to elect a new Bishop. Resting in the assurance that God goes ahead of us to prepare the way, please keep in your prayers Bishop Stephen and Fawna, our Diocesan Executive, the clergy and people of Algoma Diocese, and the faculty and students of Wycliffe College, during this time of transition. An important part of our church family is the Anglican Church Women. The Deanery ACW Spring Gathering is on 18 May, here at All Saints. At the end of the month [30 May 01 June], the Diocesan ACW Annual, will take place in Sudbury. Please keep the ACW in your prayers, as they live out their mission as Jesus witnesses in the world. In the wonder of the Easter season, in this time of resurrection and new life, may the Holy Spirit infuse us in new ways that we will be vividly aware of God s presence and love in all of our lives; and praise Him for all the ways in which he has blessed us so abundantly. May the power of new life, renew us in His love, renew our relationships, renew our structures and renew our hearts; and may the Holy Spirit flow through every fibre of our beings bringing hope, help and healing. And may we, the members of Christ s body be signs of God s Kingdom come, to a world that waits its fulfillment. I Praying for all of us the continuous in-filling of the Holy Spirit who alone enables us to be the Church in this place, I remain, Yours, in the love of Jesus Christ, our living Lord and Saviour The Venerable Dawn Henderson + Rector

From the Wardens It is with a mixture of joy and sadness that we have recently learned that our Bishop, The Right Reverend Stephen Andrews will resign at the end of July. It is sadness because he has truly been a faithful shepherd to the people of Algoma, providing pastoral and compassionate leadership and helping us all to meet the challenges and opportunity of a fulfilled Christian life. The joy comes from knowing that Bishop Stephen has been called to serve the wider Church in leading the second largest Anglican Seminary in North America, Wycliffe College in Toronto. He is at heart, a pastor and a teacher and he will make a tremendous contribution to innovative training and mentoring of new ministry and leadership in the Church across Canada and elsewhere. There will also now be new leadership in Algoma. The Executive of the Diocese will meet in June and set a date for an Episcopal election, sometime this Fall or early winter. The election will be held at St. Luke s Cathedral in Sault Ste. Marie. Those voting for a new Bishop will be the Clergy of the Diocese and lay delegates from every Parish. A successful candidate will require a majority of votes from each of the lay delegates and the clergy. This can be an exciting time in the Diocese as well as a time of renewal. As events unfold, we will be sure to keep you informed. In our own Parish, Spring has arrived with fresh initiatives, notwithstanding that as this is being written, we have a snow storm on April 25 th! We expect the sale of land to our neighbour will be completed within the next month or two. All hurdles have been crossed with the exception of a zoning issue which should be in front of the Town s Planning Committee in May. This will allow us to finally proceed with construction of the addition to our Church building this summer and this will provide additional meeting and greeting space as well as much needed accessible washroom facilities on the main floor. We are also pleased to report that from a financial perspective, our first quarter has remained on course and generally within budget. As well, on the recommendation of our Rector and with the support of the Parish Advisory Committee and the Wardens, a Worship Committee has been formed to enhance opportunities of worship and praise within our Parish. Led by the Venerable Dawn, inaugural members will be Louis Tusz, Sherisse Stevens, Patti Payne and Anne Mackenzie. Please keep them in your prayers. We wish you all a Happy Spring season and we look forward to sharing the peace of Christ with you at All Saints. Sincerely, The Wardens, Barb Willms, Hugh Mackenzie, Sue Dixon and Patti Payne

The Parish Advisory Council met on April 17 th, below please find a progress list. Sue Dixon, Chair PAC All things in life are temporary. If they re going well, enjoy them, that won't last long. If they re going badly, don't worry, that won't last long either. In all things, give thanks to God. Pastoral Care Pastoral Care continues to meet on the first Monday of the month. Delivery of cards, flowers, telephone calls, home visits and prayers are ongoing. We now have a cupboard for pastoral care supplies which makes the tools for pastoral care more accessible. We give thanks for the donations of prayer shawls, soup, baking, flowers, cards, offers to help, prayers and notifications where pastoral care is welcomed. Pastoral care is not just a committee but a part of our Being In Christ as a whole in our All Saints' Community and we seek ways to promote and support this. Love in Christ, Betty-Lou Durr, Chair Pastoral Care

Outreach Report We now have the numbers to report for our Outreach givings so far this year. Parishioners donated $ towards the Bishop s 60 th Birthday gift. This money has been sent to the Diocese of Tarime in Tanzania for their girl s school. Outreach received $ in our Loonie/Toonie drive during Lent. (Plus a roll of film and some chocolate coins!) Thank you to all who supported this initiative. Thanks also to the counters who helped tally all those loonies and toonies. It s never too late to contribute to Outreach Funds. Would you like to be part of the discussion of where we can direct these funds? Please join us for our next Outreach Committee meeting on Wednesday May 4 th in Upper Sutherland Hall. Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as you ever can! ~ John Wesley the Outreach Committee God Won't Ask... God won`t ask what kind of car you drove, but He will ask how may people you drove who didn`t have transportation. God won`t ask the square footage of your house, but He will ask how many people did you welcomed into your home. God won`t ask how many clothes you have, but He will ask how many you helped to clothe. God won`t ask you what food you ate, but He will ask you how many you helped to feed. God won`t ask what your highest salary was, but He will ask if you if you shared with those less fortunate. God won`t ask what your job title was, but He will ask if you performed you job to the best of your ability. God won`t ask how many friends you had, but He will ask how many people to whom you were a friend. God won`t ask in what neighbourhood you lived, but He will ask how you treated your neighbours. God won`t ask about the colour of your skin, but He will ask about the content of your character. God won`t ask why it took you so long to seek salvation, but He will lovingly take you to your mansion in Heaven. Anonymous Bible thoughts (author unknown)

PWRDF Announces $15,000 for Ecuadorian Earthquake Relief A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the northern coast of Ecuador on April 16, The epicentre was just 170 kilometres northwest of Quito the capital city. It was the most powerful earthquake to hit the region in 36 years. The quakes flattened houses, buildings and bridges. Massive damage to property and infrastructure has been reported. A state of emergency is in effect for six provinces Guayas, Manabi, Santo Domingo, Los Rios, Esmeraldas and Galapagos. There is little information coming from the remote areas, but according to the government at least half a million people will be affected directly by the earthquake. April 19, 2016 By Simon Chambers PWRDF will send an initial grant of $15,000 through the ACT Alliance for relief efforts in Ecuador after the deadly 7.8 magnitude earthquake of April 16, The epicentre was just 170 kilometres northwest of Quito, the capital city. It was the most powerful earthquake to hit the region in 36 years. The Latin American Council of Churches (CLIA) is an ACT member that already works in the area, and is coordinating with the Ecuadorian government and UN agencies. Other ACT members, including the Lutheran World Federation and Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH) are joining in the response, providing food, water, shelter, medical supplies, counselling, and household items in the first days after the earthquake. 8 Starfish For those of you who are not familiar with Starfish, we thought it would be appropriate to give you some background on Operation Starfish. The Christmas Adopt a Family program (23 years age) was such a success the Starfish Team decided to support one family throughout the year, and now supports four families. Our purpose is to lend a helping hand financially and to provide emotional support to families in need throughout the year. Our long-term goal is to help the family become self-sufficient. We ask that they assist someone else in need when the occasion presents itself. Operation Starfish is under the Outreach umbrella. At one time funds were raised through garage sales, used book table and donations. Starfish is now funded solely through donations. Starfish families chosen by the team have been screened by Family Services, the Salvation Army or the Rector and at times by members of our Parish. They are families that need a helping hand but are not necessarily on social assistance. The families are on the Starfish roster for three years, and then their needs are reviewed At times a family will say they can now make it on their own and request that we take on another family. The name Operation Starfish is used to maintain the anonymity of the families. Marj Payne WELCOME THE STRANGER You cannot know the reason why I am here this morning. It may be as simple as a move to your community or as complicated as personal crisis that leads me to seek strength from God. In either case, I am here. And I will probably remain here and come back to worship with you next Sunday and the Sunday after and the Sunday after that, if you will do some things for me. Won t you please Smile at me as I walk in the door. You are my first impression of the church during the first few moments I am in your building, and this first impression will probably stay with me a long time. Help me find my place in the service. I will not find your help an intrusion. In fact, I will remember your kindness. Speak to me during the coffee hour. I know you want to see your friends and settle that piece of committee business. But I may find it hard to believe that you truly care for each other unless I first see evidence that you care for the stranger in your midst. Tell me good things about your church and your minister. I want to believe that I have come to a place where people love each other and where they believe that they are doing something exciting and important for the Lord. Notice me - even if I am not a family. I don t want to feel invisible just because I am unmarried, a single parent, a teenager, or an older person. Talk to me again the second week when I come back, and the third and the fourth. I am still not a part of your parish family. Please don t feel you have done your duty by me just because you made a point of greeting me the first week I was here. Invite me to become a part of some church group or organization. I need more than worship every Sunday. I need to know that I am accepted and affirmed by a group of people within the church who know me by my first name and who care about me as an individual. If you can find it in your heart to do these things for me, I will come back the second Sunday, the third, and maybe forever. I will worship with you, and I may join your choir, work at your fair, teach in your church school, contribute to your canvass, and become a highly involved member of your church, and, in so doing, I will find my own life immeasurably enriched. Written by the Rev. Christopher Chamberlin Moore.

It was a grand party April 09, 2016 celebrating Lillian Gallant's 90th Birthday with a large contingent from her All Saint's Parish family, family, friends, and friends from her many community involvements. Unfortunately, the party girl wasn't able to attend. Abundant pictures, video, flowers, and best wishes showered on her hopefully will help assuage any disappointment. Sunshine Ladies This is a wonderful group of Senior Ladies who meet the second Tuesday of each month for a Sunshine social. The Club has been meeting since 1967 making it 49 years old. We are welcomed into the homes of our parishioners for either afternoon tea or lunch, visit Traditions and Rogers Cove and are often guests of A.C.W. in Sutherland Hall. If you would like to join this group or assist the volunteers by helping with transportation, food or hosting one of our monthly get togethers in your home please give Peggy Hern , Jacquie Howell or Marj Payne an enquiring call.

Although we had a storm that Thursday night, nothing prevented 6 youth (3 guests) and 3 adults from braving the drive to church and participating in the scheduled program! Thank you to Dawn for presenting to the youth, our Children's Seder Supper and the story of Moses and Pharaoh, (Let my People Go) many questions were asked about the Seder Supper and the Story of Moses, and the food was enjoyed by all! The youth enjoyed the use of the NEW BIG SCREEN in Upper Sutherland Hall! They saw the STORY OF EASTER, before the Maundy service. After the service the youth returned to the hall for musical videos of Christian songs, where they got up and danced, marched around and sang all the tunes! Go Down Moses, Lord I lift your Name On High, Peace like a River, etc. Then we quieted down with crafts of beading, and play dough art. Thank you Sheyanne for your expressive solo dance! Thank you again to Dawn for leading us in worship and song during the Maundy Service, with no organ or choir! (due to weather). The youth were moved to hear you singing! We participated in the Night Vigil and toured Christ`s Journey (Holy Week) set up in the Church School. Thank you to Darla for helping me with the evening meal, breakfast, and the sleepover supervision. Before bed time, we lit our Christ Candle (battery operated) & the youth and I prayed together. They went to sleep around a flickering ( fake ) campfire; both stayed lit all night long. Friday morning was breakfast, then getting ready for the Good Friday Service, where all attended. 13 John 21 Jesus & Peter Then Jesus told Peter, Follow me. [John 21:19] tried. Peter had said he did not even know Jesus three times I tell you, I do not know the man! And Jesus heard Peter say that. But there was Jesus preparing a meal for the disciples and three times Jesus asked, Peter, do you love me? And three times Peter said, Yes, Lord, You know I love you. Why did Jesus have to ask Peter three times? Well, Peter had denied Jesus three times, and now Jesus gave Peter three chances to say that he did love the Lord. Peter denied Jesus three times, and Jesus forgave Peter. Jesus always forgives us when we are sorry for something we ve done wrong and ask for His forgiveness. Then Jesus gave Peter some instructions: Feed My lambs. Now, did that mean real sheep? No. Jesus meant those who followed and loved Him. Jesus told Peter to take care and teach those people who believed in Jesus. Peter followed Jesus instructions and he and the other disciples told everyone they met about Jesus and all that He had said done. During the forty days after Jesus rose from the dead, He appeared many times to His disciples. The angels at the tomb of Jesus on Easter morning told the disciples to return to their homes near the Sea of Galilee and that Jesus would meet them there. Once in Galilee, the disciples decided to go fishing remember, many of them had been fishermen before they followed Jesus. They fished all night but caught nothing. In the morning, someone on the beach said, Throw your net on the right side of the boat. They did just that, and then caught so many fish their nets nearly broke! The disciple, John, knew at once who was this stranger on the beach it was Jesus! So ahead of the others, Peter quickly waded to shore to see his Lord. Jesus was cooking a fish breakfast for the disciples over a charcoal fire. This must have looked very familiar to Peter because on the night of Jesus arrest, Peter had warmed himself over a charcoal fire while Jesus was B J R J L U L G C B N R Z F Y S R X N D Z A Z H F V G K D L G E E J M L A A A R H R F X K B N V A I P L U R D E N I E D T N I L K A U X C E Q K U K B O D E N M F D C O V J X O Z F V E R B R G A N A A T E D Z R T F S O M O R S L G M R S E F S T E N L Q M T T R V L T U H D I S C I P L E S O B S P L S A F K G H P D E S F A D E Q I G N I H S I F V G E N Q T D U C S V J Z L L O C C I K E N I Q V T J J H N L N T A Y R U T Y S I W H O E I L C X E U P B BREAKFAST CHARCOAL DENIED DISCIPLES EASTER FISHING FORGAVE GALILEE JESUS LAMBS LORD LOVE MORNING NETS PETER Colouring:
