Gifts for the Sharing Tree are distributed to the Lyons VA Hospital, Engel Senior Center, Runnells Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, and Catholic Charities. St. Joseph s Toy Drive-- The annual St. Joseph s Toy Sale will be held on December 17 th in Elizabeth again this year. We are collecting NEW and UNWRAPPED TOYS of all varieties. Toys can be dropped off at Mass on the weekends of December 2 nd /3 rd and 9 th /10 th in the bins labeled Toy Drive. NEXT WEEKEND IN OUR PARISH Blessing of the Ornaments Bring an ornament from your tree for the Blessing of the Ornaments at all Masses on December 9 th and 10 th. Registration for Adult Bible Study will occur after all Masses this weekend. Blue Christmas Prayer Service-- Sunday, December 10, :30 pm. Little Flower Little Church, 310 Plainfield Avenue, Berkeley Heights, NJ. Not everyone experiences Christmas feeling merry, joyful, and happy. There are those who have suffered the loss of a loved one, others who may be out of work or who do not have enough work, some may be experiencing sickness, a broken relationship or struggling with addiction. Many of us are overworked and under much stress. It is understandable that we may feel down or depressed at this time of year or are looking for a brief respite from the hustle and bustle of the season. All are welcome to join us as we come together to pray for renewed strength, hope and experience the presence of the Lord. Free of Charge. Light Refreshment will be served after. LITTLE FLOWER NEWS GOING HOME UPDATE-- We are still trying to reach our goal of $3 million!if you haven t pledged, please fill out a pledge card and drop it off at the school building. 4 While we are still enjoying the beautiful fall weather, please take a moment to remember those who are less fortunate. Many people are struggling to make ends meet for their day-to-day lives, let alone adding Christmas to the mix. If you are blessed to have all you need and so much more, please consider helping those who don t and Adopt-a-Family for the holidays. All adopted family information is kept anonymous and there is no minimum amount required to spend. The program allows another family to receive some much needed joy for the holidays. Parishioners in Hospitals-- If you or a loved one is hospitalized, we would love to offer you the Sacrament of the Sick, bring Communion or just pay you a visit. Please be sure to let the parish know. Due to privacy laws, hospitals are not allowed to inform us when a parishioner is hospitalized. The only way we know is through family and friends. Please encourage your loved ones to contact our Pastoral Associate, Margaret, at Yo Lotta Luv Frozen Desserts Going Home Fundraiser-- Yo Lotta Luv Frozen Desserts and Café will be hosting a "going home" fundraiser for Little Flower.The way it works is as follows.visit Yo Lotta Luv, located at 258 Main St.,Chatham, NJ Purchase the frozen yogurt, ice cream or dessert of your choice. Identify yourself as being a part of Little Flower fundraiser. Yo Lotta Luv will donate 25% of parishioner purchases to Little Flower "Going Home" project. Fundraiser takes place between now and December 16th. So, come and join us for a delicious dessert and help Little Flower at the same time! Remember, the more parishioners who participate, the greater the contribution will be! AROUND TOWN The Rosary Society would like to thank our Pastor Fr. Andy and everyone who supported our Bake Sale fundraiser. A total sum of $892.00, was raised. Funds go toward Lyons' Veterans, St. Joseph's Community Center in Elizabeth, and Little Flower Pantry. EYEGLASSES FOR THE NEEDY The Knights of Columbus, Summit Council (New Providence, Summit and Berkeley Heights) collects used eyeglasses. Donations may be dropped in the box at the rectory during business hours. FROM THE ARCHDIOCESE Catholic Single Parent Support Groups-- According to US Census data, 30% of children living in New Jersey currently live in a single parent household. The Family Life Office has created and is offering a support group specific to the needs of single parents. Below is a list of parishes in the Archdiocese of Newark, which offer this support group for single parents. If interested in attending, please call the phone number listed to register! Postion Opening in the Office of Finance--The RCAN is hiring an Assistant Controller in the Office of Finance. The Assistant Controller has responsibility for supporting the Controller in external financial reporting as well as in budgeting. Principal responsibilities include preparing financial reports and working with external auditors and the internal accounting staff. The financial statements include the insurance fund, medical plan, Catholic Cemeteries, Pension Plans, and the Chancery financials. Budgets and monthly variance analysis are also required for these entities. Responsibilities include working closely with the Finance and Accounting department. A Bachelor s degree in Accounting and a CPA along with 5 years of managerial level experience in accounting or finance are required. Interested applicants should do so in writing.
