Sacrament of Baptism: For information concerning our Parent and Godparent Preparation Program, please contact the Parish Office approximately three to six months before the child is born. Sacrament of Matrimony: Couples should contact a Parish Priest as soon as they decide to marry and before any other arrangements are made. The Diocesan policy requires a minimum one-year period of preparation. Sacrament of the Sick & Homebound Visits Please inform us when a family member is admitted to the hospital. Communion visits to the aged, sick, convalescing and homebound are a major concern to us. Please call the Rectory at to arrange these ministerial visits. 4 Reflections: The Feast of Christ the King, which we celebrate on Sunday, Nov. 20 this year, ends the liturgical Church year and ushers in a new year, beginning with the following Sunday, Nov. 27 and the season of Advent. The readings, leading up to this feast, suggest turmoil and an end to the World as we know it, but our faith tells us that we have a King in Jesus Christ, who will lead us to a new life in His kingdom, if we allow ourselves to enter more deeply into the mystery of His life, death and resurrection. The mystery of Christ, unfolded through the cycle of the year, calls us to live his mystery in our own lives. This call is best illustrated in the lives of Mary and the Saints, celebrated by the Church throughout the year. The Blessed Virgin Mary is joined by an inseparable bond to the saving work of her Son, and the feasts of all the Saints proclaim the wonderful works of Christ in his servants and offer the faithful, you and me, fitting examples for their imitation. In the feasts of the Saints the Paschal Mystery of Christ, his suffering, death and resurrection, is proclaimed and renewed. The liturgical year is made up of six seasons: Advent - four weeks of preparation before the celebration of Jesus' birth Christmas - recalling the Nativity of Jesus Christ and his manifestation to the peoples of the world Lent - a six-week period of penance before Easter Sacred Paschal Triduum - the holiest "Three Days" of the Church's year, where the Christian people recall the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Easter - 50 days of joyful celebration of the Lord's resurrection from the dead and his sending forth of the Holy Spirit Ordinary Time - divided into two sections (one span of 4-8 weeks after Christmas Time and another lasting about six months after Easter Time), wherein the faithful consider the fullness of Jesus' teachings and works among his people As we end this year of mercy and begin a new year with Advent and the Gospel of Matthew, may we enter more deeply into the life of Christ our King and thus align our lives more closely with Him, in faith hope and love. 5 STEWARDSHIP/MINISTRIES Thank you to all those who are donating a Thanksgiving food basket to a needy Northbridge family. Your support is greatly appreciated. Food baskets must be delivered to our parish center between 10:00 AM and 12:00 Noon on Sunday, November 20th. NAC Food Pantry Open Tuesdays 10:00 AM-12:00 PM & Thursdays 1:00-3:00 PM Please remember those that are less fortunate. The NAC Food Pantry helps local area families, and will accept any nonperishable food in date. If you would like to donate please drop items off in the boxes at the entrance of the Church or drop a donation in the basket marked for the NAC Food Pantry. 6 LET S REMEMBER: The NAC Thanksgiving Eve Service will be Wednesday, November 23 at 7:00 pm at the Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church, 61 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville. The speaker will be Rev. Tom Landry, pastor of St. Peter's Church. The public is invited. The eleven Northbridge churches will be providing refreshments and there will be time for fellowship. Please bring boxed or canned items for the NAC Food Pantry. They are the persons easiest to remember. To pray for our dear ones is a sweet obligation. 2. The next finger is the index. Pray for those who teach you, instruct you and heal you. They need the support and wisdom to show direction to others. Always keep them in your prayers. 3. The following finger is the tallest. It reminds us of our leaders, the governors and those who have authority. They need God s guidance. 4. The fourth finger is the ring finger. Even that it may surprise you, it is our weakest finger. It should remind us to pray for the weakest, the sick or those plagued by problems. They need your prayers. 5. And finally we have our smallest finger, the smallest of all. Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. When you are done praying for the other four groups, you will be able to see your own needs but in the proper perspective, and also you will be able to pray for your own needs in a better way.
