2 Palm Sunday, March 25, 2018 Jesus, humbling himself out of love for us, did not shield his face from buffets and spitting, but offered his life on the cross. He relied on his Father s love. Welcome! You enter this Church not as a stranger, but as a guest of God. As a baptized person, you enter it as a son or daughter of the Father in Christ. This House of God, therefore, is your family home. Come in then with humility of mind, joy of heart and thanks on your lips. Come in and pause in prayer in the midst of your busy life and its many worries. Holy Thursday Collection for the Soup Kitchen, March 29th, 7:00 pm Mass Our parish remembers those who go hungry by bringing a non-perishable food item or monetary donation to be placed at the altar during Offertory on Holy Thursday. The food and monetary donations will be given to the Soup Kitchen. Christians around the world are united in a special way during Lent, Holy Week and Easter. Our hearts, minds and prayers are also especially aware of the Holy Land. Our parishes, once a year on Good Friday, are called on to support Christians in the Holy Land. Many Christians in the Holy Land depend on the collection for their lives. As a pontifical collection requested by our Pope, the annual Good Friday collection offers a direct link for parishioners to be witnesses of peace and to help protect the Holy Places. When you donate on Good Friday, you are supporting Christians in the Holy Land. It costs $1899 per pilgrim to go on this experience. The dinner will include a silent auction of gift baskets, and entertainment. $10 dinner tickets will be available for purchase in the narthex this weekend, Palm Sunday. Catholics Come Home Do you know someone who has left the Church? Do you know someone who has stopped coming to Church? Most of us do not have to look very far to find non-practicing Catholics in our circle of family and friends. Many non-practicing Catholics carry with them a tremendous amount of guilt and misinformation about the Church and are afraid of approaching the Church for fear of being rejected. You can make a difference in someone's life simply by reaching out to them and telling them that we miss them and would like for them to come back home to our Church family. On Thursday, April 5 th at 6:00 pm we begin the "Catholics Come Home" six week series. The children are learning that this is Holy Week. It is the last week of Lent and the last week of Jesus earthly life. They know Jesus died on the cross for us so that we could be with him in heaven someday. He was buried in a tomb and rose on Easter Sunday to be with his father in heaven. The Preschool and Kindergarten are closed Good Friday, March 30th and Easter Monday, April 2nd. Remember that the Communion being offered around the back of the Church is strictly reserved for those who are physically unable to safely come forward for Communion. It is also, of course, for the family or friend who is here to assist the person. We remember as well, that Our Lord, present in the Blessed Sacrament, is always to be revered and adored. Therefore, remember to stop and reverence Him in the Blessed Sacrament until He has passed by completely. Thank you.
