Jesus Christ is forever new. In George Weigel s book, Letters to a Young Catholic, he writes, Faith demands consequences and a vocation is something that you are. I would like to first focus on Faith. Faith demands consequences. We cannot be people of faith if we do not speak out against immorality. We cannot be people of faith if we allow indifference. We cannot be people of faith if we allow ourselves to go with the whim of culture. People of faith do not sit back and allow sins, lies, evil and death to continue. Faith demands consequences, demands action. In the course of a lifetime, modern people have many careers, many jobs. These careers and jobs are not who these people are. It is simply what they are currently doing. However, a vocation is something that you are. Wife and mother or husband and father or Priest or Religious Sister or Brother are who a person is. They are vocations. A career is a job. An occupation is what you do. A vocation is what we are. We quickly get into trouble, losing our integrity of whom God has made us to be, when what we do is opposed to whom we are. When we respond to that call of Christ within us to be Christian, to be holy, to become saints, then that is reflected in ALL our actions. Our actions should reflect our inner life, the life of Jesus Christ we have been called to embrace. That is how we become who we are. George Weigel says that people who are determined to live the truth of who they are, people who are determined to live vocationally, are the most dynamic force in history. Are you part of the dynamic force of St. Boniface, St. John the Baptist and St. Joseph Parishes? Our call to Faith and our Vocation is as urgent now as it was for the first disciples of the Church. Faith has consequences. Faith is dynamic. Faith is counter -cultural. Faith changes the world. Faith is manifested in the integrity of men and women who live who they are. Be courageous. Be Catholic! January Anniversaries The Holy Name Society is ancient it is one of the oldest confraternities in the Church. On April 5, 1564, Pope Pius IV established the Holy Name Society. The Tradition at St. Boniface has been a tradition for generations. Any man young or old is invited to take part in the prayers after Mass on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Prayers said are the Holy Name Prayer, the prayer to St. Isadore (patron Saint of Farmers), a prayers for vocations, and the Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus.
