Owen Korte CONGRATULATIONS: To all the graduates from Cedar and Hartington/Newcastle...I pray that your future is bright and that you will keep the Lord close to you. We also want to remember in this season of graduations all those leaving school of higher learning: Trade Schools, Professional Schools, Colleges and Universities and Graduate Schools, too. The Lord has indeed showered so many with so much talent it is wonderful to see the investing of those talents and returning to the Lord a 100 fold. ASCENSION THURSDAY: Coming up soon Masses are as follows: Wednesday, May 24 at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 25 at 8:05 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. NO MASSES: May 30-June 2. There will be Communion services on Wednesday (5/31) and Friday (6/2) that week. HT Hosting Chamber Coffee: Friday, May 19, 9:00 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. at the Parish Office. Stop by for some coffee, juice and some great coffee cake. SPECIAL NEEDS APPEAL We are beginning to set up the structure for this Appeal to cover the costs of four projects. I presented to the parish a close look at the projects in the presentation I made to the parish after masses last weekend. We had about 150 in total come to learn more. The Four Projects: 1) Raise the remaining funds needed to pay for the Grade School Roof; 2) Raise the needed funds to completely replace the heating and AC in the Church; 3) Raise the funds needed to purchase a new JD tractor for snow removal; 4) Raise the remaining funds needed to purchase the windows Patron Saints for the Week St. Isidore the Farmer St. John I St. Bernardine of Siena Acts 14:19-28 Ps 145:10-13ab, 21 Jn 14:27-31z Wed: Acts 15:1-6 Ps 122:1-5 Jn 15:1-8 Thu: Acts 15:7-21 Ps 96:1-3, 10 Jn 15:9-11 Fri: Acts 15:22-31 Ps 57:8-10, 12 Jn 15:12-17 Sat: Acts 16:1-10 Ps 100:1-3, 5 Jn 15:18-21 Sun: Acts 8:5-8, Ps 66:1-7, 16, 20 1Pt 3:15-18 Jn 14:15-21 farmers, rural life papal travels advertisers, Holy Name that will eventually become our new stained glass windows in the Church. The total appeal goal is $250,000. The need is real and the goal is achievable if we all pull together and give our fair share. Handouts and mailings will come to inform you further on the projects. The work now begins. Let us pray for its success. There are some extra handouts in the back of church if you did not make the Parish Meetings a few weeks ago FURNACE: In looking through some old corporate papers I found that the furnace that was installed in the new church in 1902 cost $412, of course that was without AC. TOTUS TUUS: The SUMMER JESUS SCHOOL will happen here at Holy Trinity, July Flyers were sent home to all parents who have kids in grades 1-6 and Jr-Hi/HS as well. Let s get going and get signed up. MEMORIAL DAY: MAY 29: I plan on having mass at St. Michael s Cemetery that morning. 4th Degree KC, get ready. I need to have it at 9:00 a.m. because I have to drive to Omaha to get on a plane that afternoon. At this mass we read the names of those buried the past year from our parish funerals..whether they are buried at St. Michaels or some other cemetery. I know the VFW has a service and maybe they could do the St. Michael s one prior to or after the mass. But if it doesn t work out they will do it when they can. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS 4TH DEGREE: Mark your calendars. We will be having a get-together, a social, a meeting, an event a ya ll need to come with spouses evening function on Sunday May 21. More details later: For now, mark your calendars. SERVER TRAINING: This summer the sixth graders from HT Grade School (next yrs 6th graders) will be serving the daily masses. In addition, I will be training the Religious Ed kids to serve also this summer. Looking for some other wrinkles for our servers this summer to have some fun stay tuned. PASTORAL COUNCIL: We will meet after the mass on Ascension Thursday beginning at 7:00 p.m... May 25 at the Parish Office. WELCOME DEACON ROGER FILIPS: (Deacon Doctor; now we would like to give him the letters DD after his name, but unfortunately that has been taken up by the Bishop. DD for a bishop stands for Doctor of Divinity.) Deacon Roger will be helping a great deal around the parish. We have not worked out all the details but he will Deacon regularly at our weekend masses and he will preach once a month at all the weekend masses. He and Ann are already helping with Marriage Prep and he will do those weddings that do not call for a priest and that they have prepared. Congratulation to ANN also, for she journeyed along throughout all the formation process. God bless you Both!! OUR PARISH NAME DAY: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, June 11, ought to have some parish thing for us to celebrate our identity. Sooo, we are going to move the Corpus Christi Procession to this Sunday and we will follow up the Procession with a Parish Pot-Luck. All of this after the 10:30 a.m. mass. So, please plan on it. I know so many go to the river or lake; I just hope you will see this as a good thing to plan this around that.
