Sacrament of Marriage: Arrangements are to be made at least six months in advance. Couples must participate in Marriage Preparation sessions. Sacrament of Baptism for Infants: Please call the Faith Formation Office to schedule Baptism. Parents must attend a Baptism Preparation prior to their child s Baptism. MISSION STATEMENT We the Parish Family of Saint Sebastian, Belle Vernon, serve people in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties. We are Roman Catholics of various ethnic backgrounds with strong family values demonstrating a variety of skills, trades and professions. The purpose of the parish is to glorify God by assisting the community on the Journey of a Lifetime through the Liturgy and Sacraments, teaching and preaching the Word of God, and witnessing to our faith. As a community of faith, we are committed to love of God and neighbor through worshiping together and serving others in caring for their spiritual, emotional and physical needs. Each of us is called to strengthen and reach beyond our parish through being responsible stewards of our time, talent and treasure in the spirit of our patron, St. Sebastian.
2 THIRTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME PAGE 1 NOVEMBER 12, 2017 Second Collection this Sunday is the monthly Utilities & Maintenance collection. Poverty Relief Fund/ CRS collection November The annual Diocesan Poverty Relief Fund and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) collection will be held November Seventyfive percent of the funds collected will stay in the diocese to support local needs, and 25 percent of the funds will go to Catholic Relief Services for overseas relief efforts. Hearing Assistance Our parish has special hearing assistance technology. Please see Fr. Frank, in the sacristy, at least 15 minutes before Mass. Memorial Pavers Memorial pavers are still available for the Saint Joseph Memorial Shrine. The price for each paver is $200. Reservation sheets can be found in the vestibule and the church office. For more information, contact the parish office. Electronic Donations If you wish to make your Sunday offerings electronically, you may sign up to do so. For your convenience, there are forms in the church pamphlet racks to sign-up for this simple, cost-effective service. If you have any questions or concerns please call the Business Manager, Daniel Lisovich, at the Parish Office ( ). Please Note: There is a collection bin for nonperishable food items in our church vestibule. These items are retrieved monthly for the support of our local Food Bank. Secure Mailbox A secure mailbox is located outside the Parish Office in the breezeway between the church and the Parish Office. If you have any correspondence, church envelopes, etc. you may place them in the secure mailbox if the office is closed. This mail slot for your convenience offers security for items left for the office. From the kindness of your heart, please remember Saint Sebastian Parish in your will. SEBASTIAN CHURCH PAGE 2 BELLE VERNON, PENNSYLVANIA CHILDREN S CORNER Starting this weekend, we encourage the children, at every Mass, to come in front of the altar and place their offering in the basket provided, just like it was done at the Children s Mass at 9:00 a.m. last Sunday, November 5. We thank the parents for bringing their children to church. Anointing of the Sick: Saturday, November 18, during the 4:30 pm Mass The Anointing of the Sick is for all Catholics who are seriously weakened by sickness or age. The priest will pray over all to be anointed, lay hands upon them and anoint their forehead and palms with the Oil of the Sick. We invite all who are sick to come and be anointed during our regularly scheduled 4:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday, November 18. Baptism Congratulations to Olivia Shaye Mitchell, daughter of Perry and Minda (Koloshinsky) Mitchell who was baptized last weekend. We welcome Olivia into the Church and into our Parish Family. 4 SAINT SEBASTIAN CHURCH PAGE 3 THANKSGIVING DAY FRIENDSHIP DINNER NOVEMBER 23, :30 AM 1:30 PM The annual Thanksgiving Friendship Dinner sponsored by the Belle Vernon Area Ministerium will be held again at St. Sebastian Church on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, 2017! This FREE turkey dinner is open to ALL members of our community. Volunteers of all ages are welcome and appreciated! Dinner will be served from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Desserts are needed and will be gratefully accepted at the St. Sebastian Parish Office. Volunteers can meet in St. Sebastian Parish Hall on Thanksgiving Day at 10:30 AM. Set-up, serving, and clean-up help is needed. Please contact your parish office, or call Christy Cabaniss if you are available to help. We look forward to seeing you there! Turkey Bingo The Epiphany Ladies Annual Turkey Bingo will be held on November 19 at 1:00 p.m. in the Epiphany of Our Lord Church Hall, 44 Pennsylvania Blvd. Doors open at 12:00 p.m. There will be 20 Turkey Games and 4 Cash Games. Admission is $10.00, which includes 2 Cards and a Door Prize Ticket. A variety of food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the afternoon. Natural Family Planning CM-BBT is a medically based, scientifically researched, highly effective NFP method that safely promotes personal health and wellness of body. This NFP Method can be used to avoid, postpone, plan or achieve pregnancy. The next Natural Family Planning CM-BBT Method instruction is scheduled for Monday, December 4, beginning at 6 pm at the Catholic Charities office in Greensburg.
