MISSION STATEMENT We the Parish Family of Saint Sebastian, Belle Vernon, serve people in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties. We are Roman Catholics of various ethnic backgrounds with strong family values demonstrating a variety of skills, trades and professions. The purpose of the parish is to glorify God by assisting the community on the Journey of a Lifetime through the Liturgy and Sacraments, teaching and preaching the Word of God, and witnessing to our faith. As a community of faith, we are committed to love of God and neighbor through worshiping together and serving others in caring for their spiritual, emotional and physical needs. Each of us is called to strengthen and reach beyond our parish through being responsible stewards of our time, talent and treasure in the spirit of our patron, St. Sebastian.

It is challenging and even difficult, in many respects, yet intense joy comes to those who take the risk to live as Christian stewards. Women and men who seek to live as stewards learn that "all things work for good for those who love God" (Rom 8:28). Children s Bulletins Each Sunday, a small bulletin for children called God s Word for Children will be in the church pamphlet racks. The text and pictures help children understand the Sunday Gospel. Please take one for your child. Pancake Breakfast St. John the Baptist, Perryopolis, Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, June 3 rd 9:00 am 1:00 pm. Adults $8.00, Kids (3-10) $4:00, (2 & under) FREE. Annual Junque Sale We are collecting items for the Junque Sale every Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12-Noon and again from 6:00 8:00 p.m. in the upper parish garage. We are not taking encyclopedias, televisions, or large furniture pieces unless you are willing to hold it until the week of July 23rd. The Junque sale will take place July 26, 27, and 28, coinciding with the Annual Antiques & Artisans on the Avenue which runs from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. For more information on the Junque Sale call Bonnie at Sisters of Charity Fine Arts Camp The Seton Arts Service Corps of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill will sponsor a fine arts camp for children in grades 2-8 July from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Caritas Christi. Once we hit $63, ($8, more than we have now), all further donations will be returned to St. Sebastian s 100% as non-assessable income.

Coping with Life Changes A Bereavement & Peer Support Group Journey through Loss and Life Changes, a monthly gathering, will begin mid-june for adults working through life changes and/or loss. This educational informative forum will provide materials, presentations, and discussions on a variety of topics to inform and assist participants. Journey through Loss and Life Changes" is offered the 2nd Wednesday of each month, from 6:00 7:30 p.m. beginning June 13th at St. Sebastian Parish Center. The group is facilitated by Amanda Minardi, VITAS Healthcare. To register or for more information, at Amanda.minardi@vitas.com, or call Drop-ins are also welcome. Light refreshments will be provided. Support for Faith Formation Our faith formation program is in need of volunteers! Volunteers are needed as catechists, substitute teachers, aides, and hall monitors. All clearances are necessary as these people regularly work with children. Please contact Christy with any questions at Our program runs on Monday nights. Volunteers are needed from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. A Catechist (teacher) should need about 2 additional hours per week to plan for each class. New Servers/Liturgical Coordinators We are in need of new altar servers, liturgical coordinators and lectors. There are 12 evening sessions, three workshops and a closing retreat. Pathways will be held at St. Agnes Parish, North Huntingdon, and St. John the Evangelist Parish, Latrobe. To register, call or visit Applications being accepted for Certificate in Pastoral Ministry Program Applications are being accepted for the Certificate in Pastoral Ministry program for classes beginning in late August. The program is a partnership between the Diocese of Greensburg and Seton Hill University designed to meet the educational and formational needs of adults who are committed to the mission of Christ and feel called to serve publicly in the name of the Catholic Church. Suggested donation is $25. All proceeds benefit the Diocesan Heritage Center.
