Sacrament of Baptism for Infants: Please call the Faith Formation Office to schedule Baptism. Parents must attend a Baptism Preparation prior to their child s Baptism. MISSION STATEMENT We the Parish Family of Saint Sebastian, Belle Vernon, serve people in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties. We are Roman Catholics of various ethnic backgrounds with strong family values demonstrating a variety of skills, trades and professions. The purpose of the parish is to glorify God by assisting the community on the Journey of a Lifetime through the Liturgy and Sacraments, teaching and preaching the Word of God, and witnessing to our faith. As a community of faith, we are committed to love of God and neighbor through worshiping together and serving others in caring for their spiritual, emotional and physical needs. Each of us is called to strengthen and reach beyond our parish through being responsible stewards of our time, talent and treasure in the spirit of our patron, St. Sebastian.

SEBASTIAN CHURCH PAGE 4 BELLE VERNON, PENNSYLVANIA New Student Registration for Religious Education Classes for the School Year Parents, If your child is entering kindergarten, the first grade, or has not attended Religious Ed classes as yet and is not attending a Catholic School, please call the Faith Formation Office ( ) so that we may enter his/her name to the class roster. Attending Religious Education classes is necessary for public school students in order for them to understand and receive their sacraments. Classes begin Monday, September 17, from 6:15 7:30 in our School building. Registration forms are available on line at: and in the Church pamphlet racks. Volunteers Needed for Faith Formation Our faith formation program is in need of volunteers! Volunteers are needed as catechists (3rd & 5th grades), substitute teachers, aides, and hall monitors. All clearances are necessary as these people regularly work with children. Please call the Faith Formation Office with any questions or concerns at Feast of the Assumption at Bishop Connare Center August 15 Bishop Malesic will lead a celebration of the feast of the Assumption August 15 at the Bishop Connare Center. The bishop will celebrate Mass at 7:00 pm in the St. Joseph Chapel then lead a candlelight procession. That will be followed by recitation of the rosary led by different groups from the diocese. Culture Project International Our parishioner, Johni Beeler, will be speaking before Mass this weekend. She is entering her second year of missionary work for this group which is dedicated to proclaiming the dignity of the human person and the richness of living sexual integrity, inviting our culture to become fully alive!
