3 EPISTLE READING: St. Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 1:10-14; 2:1-3 "IN THE BEGINNING, Thou, Lord, didst found the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of thy hands; they will perish, but thou remainest; they will all grow old like a garment, like a mantle thou wilt roll them up, and they will be changed. But thou art the same, and thy years will never end." But to what angel has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand, till I make thy enemies a stool for thy feet?" Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of those who are to obtain salvation? Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard him. GOSPEL READING: Mark 2:1-12 THE CONFESSION OF FAITH (Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed) I believe in one God, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages; Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not created, of one essence with the Father through Whom all things were made. Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Creator of life, Who proceeds from the Father, Who together with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, Who spoke through the prophets. 4 LENTEN MEDITATION Third Week of Great Lent Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (3) Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and to the ages of ages. Amen. All-Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, be gracious unto our sins. Master, pardon our transgressions. Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Your Name's sake. Lord have mercy. 5 Great Lent 2014 Church School Today - Class after Holy Communion until 11:45pm March 15 - Class first at 9:30am March 22 & 29 - Class after Holy Communion until 11:45am Lenten Mission Boxes have been distributed and are due back to Church School teachers by March 29. This is the Lenten project for Church School and participation is one of the requirements for the Dickos Church School Award. Children are encouraged to earn the money for the boxes. Milton & Theodora Dickos Church School Award: Lent is a good time to fulfill some of the requirements for this $500 to $1000 award. Requirement information is available in the Education Wing. 6 St. John Chrystostom Parish Oratorical Festival The St. John Chrysostom Parish Oratorical Festival for 7th-12th grade students is today following the Divine Services in the Sanctuary. Everyone is invited to attend and hear these amazing young adults as they express their Faith! GOYA Wednesday, March Junior High GOYA and Senior High GOYA will sponsor the Lenten Meal. Saturday, March Holy Trinity/St. George Lenten Retreat at 9:30am, to include breakout session for GOYA/SOYA with Subdeacon Joseph. Please contact the Parish Office at to register. Confessions Father Bill will be available to hear Confessions by appointment on Thursdays during Great Lent (March 12, March 19, March 26 and April 2) from 4pm to 5:30pm. To make an appointment, please contact the Parish Office at or Lenten Retreat For men and women of the Central Indiana Orthodox Churches and sponsored by the women's organizations of Holy Trinity Church and St. George Church. Free-will donation requested. Guest speaker Ashley Purpura, PhD's topic will be "Being and Becoming the Body of Christ". Concelebration of the Salutations to the Theotokos on Friday, March 13 at 7pm at St. George Church (10748 E. 116th Street in Fishers). Everyone is invited to a Lenten Supper at 6 pm, before the 7pm Salutations Service. There is no charge. A freewill offering basket will be available. Retreat, including lunch, on Saturday, March 14 from 9:30am to 1pm at Holy Trinity Church. Register in the Founders' Walk following the Divine Services. Leisure Timers Due to the busy Lenten schedule and the importance of our Philoptochos Retreat which is a combined effort with Saint George Church, we encourage all Leisure Timers to attend the Lenten Retreat on Saturday, March 14, from 9:30am to 1pm in the Library at Holy Trinity Church. Lunch will be provided. It is also a wonderful opportunity for philoxenia. HOPE/JOY Our next event is Sunday, March 15 from 1:30pm - 3:30pm at the Magnolia Springs Senior Living Community (14901 Carey Road in Carmel). Our kids will be paired with a resident of Magnolia Springs and asked to interview them. The younger group will have a set of prepared questions and the older group will have more flexibility in the questions they ask. Finally, the kids will take turns and introduce their resident to the group. We will end with milk and cookies for both residents and the kids (and parents, too). Everyone on the group mailing list should have received an Evite to this meeting. 7 Missionaries Needed Missionaries for the Project Mexico trip May 27 through June 2 are needed. Youth ages may attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian and youth ages 14 and older may attend without a parent. There will be an informational meeting following the Divine Services in the Library on Sunday, March 15. For more information please contact Joe Pavia at joe.pavia@dsm.com. General Assembly All Holy Trinity Members are encouraged to attend the Genral Assembly meeting scheduled for Sunday, March 22 following the Divine Services in the Library. The agenda includes the revised budget and proposed Bylaws. Book Store Essential books for Great Lent are available in the Holy Trinity Bookstore. Lenten Liturgies is $29 and Salutations and Akathist Hymn is $22. The Bookstore is open each Sunday following the Divine Services. Palm Sunday Luncheon Sunday, April 5 following the Divine Services. Adult fish dinner is $12 and children's menu (ages 5-11) is $6. Children under 5 are free. Reservation deadline is March 29. After the deadline, we will try to accomodate late reservations and the adult price will be $15. Reservation forms are available online at and in the Founders' Walk. Holy Friday Retreat Please mark your calendars for the Holy Friday Retreat on April 10. There will be programs for preschool-12th grade students. Myrrh-Bearers All girls ages 9, 10 and 11 years old are invited to serve as Myrrh-Bearers for the Holy Friday Evening Service on April 10. Practice will be Holy Friday afternoon at 1pm. Philoptochos Board Are you interested in being a member of the Philoptochos Board of Directors? Our new two-year term begins May, If you are a Greek Orthodox woman who is at least 18-yearsold, are a member in good standing of the Orthodox Church and our Philoptochos Chapter for at least one year, you are eligible for membership on the Board.
