3 EPISTLE READING: St. Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 9:11-14 BRETHREN, when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) he entered once for all into the Holy Place, taking not the blood of goats and calves but his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. For if the sprinkling of defiled persons with the blood of goats and bulls and with the ashes of a heifer sanctifies for the purification of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God. 5 Palm Sunday Luncheon Sunday, April 5 following the Divine Services. Adult fish dinner is $12 and children's menu (ages 5-11) is $6. Children under 5 are free. Reservation deadline is today. After the deadline, we will try to accomodate late reservations and the adult price will be $15. Reservation forms are available online at and in the Founders' Walk. Presanctified Liturgy Wednesday, April 1 at 6pm, followed by a Lenten meal offered by the Parish Council at 7:21pm. Philoptochos Tsoureki (Pascha Bread) and Phyllo Sale Pre-order only. Order deadline is April 1. Pickup is Sunday, April 5. Order forms are available online at and in the Founders' Walk. Luminaries Junior High GOYA will be selling luminaries for $5 each in the Founders' Walk today and Sunday, April 5 following the Divine Services and Wednesday, April 1 following the Presanctified Liturgy. Half the proceeds will be donated to the fund that was established to assist the family of the late Father Matthew Baker and the other half will assist the GOYA with their upcoming trip to Boston. All luminaries are due back by Holy Wednesday, April 8. These luminaries will be placed outside the Church along the route of the procession of Holy Friday evening service. Help on Holy Thursday We invite everyone to stay following the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great that begins at 7am on April 9 to help with various Easter tasks that must be completed, such as dyeing the red eggs and wrapping them in tulle and stripping rose petals. A light strict-fasting lunch will be served. Holy Friday Retreat Journey to Pascha through Prophecies is our theme for this year's Holy Friday Retreat on April 10. It will begin with the Royal Hours Service at 8:30am and is registration at 10:30am. We have programs for Preschool - 12th grade. Lunch will be served at 12:30pm and Preschoolers and Kindergarten children can be picked up at that time. 1st - 12th graders will be released in time for the Apokathelosis Service at 2:00 pm. 1st - 6th graders will sing hymns and ring bells during the Holy Saturday morning service. Please pre-register in the Founder's Walk following the Divine Services. Agape Vespers Readers Needed Volunteers are needed to read the Gospel in Arabic, English, French, Latin, Russian and Spanish at the Easter Sunday Agape Vespers Service on April 12 at noon. Volunteers will be assigned on a first come, first served basis and must be at least 16 years old. Anastasi Fellowship On April 12 after the conclusion of the Anastasis Liturgy everyone is invited for a light meal that will include lamb, Easter bread, Easter eggs, feta, olives, and fruit salad. Free-will offering. Prosforo Needed Due to all the additional services during Great Lent and Holy Week, we are in need of Prosforo. If you are able, please consider donating one or two loaves. Book Store Essential books for Great Lent and Holy Week are available in the Holy Trinity Bookstore. Lenten Liturgies is $29 and Services of Holy Week and Easter is $28. The Bookstore is open each Sunday following the Divine Services.

9 Leisure Timers Join us Thursday, April 16 for a spring outing to The Cheesecake Factory in Keystone Crossing at 11:30am, where we can choose from a special menu. Reservations are required. HOPE/JOY The next HOPE/JOY event is Sunday, April 26 from 1pm to 3pm at the Zionsville Nature Center located at 690 Beech Street in Zionsville near the public library (about 10 minutes from Holy Trinity Church). Our kids will go on a nature walk at the 10-acre nature park and learn about local Indiana habitats, native species and walk around the wetlands to look for wildflowers and frogs. After the nature walk the kids will explore the Nature Center and have a snack. Cost is $4 per child and adults are free. Golf for Ground Zero the Rebuilding of St. Nicholas Church Save the date and start recruiting your foursomes! Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church will be sponsoring a charity golf outing to benefit the rebuilding of St. Nicholas Church, the only Christian Church that was destroyed during the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. The new domed building is scheduled to open in 2016, the same year as the Parish s 100th anniversary. The outing will be the afternoon of June 22 and will be held at the prestigious Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel. Futher details on this exciting outing will be available soon. 10 HOLY COMMUNION Holy Communion is the Body and Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Saint John of Kronstadt ( ) says, in partaking of the Holy Sacrament, be as sure that you partake of the Body and Blood of Christ, as you are sure that every moment you breathe air. Saint Cyril of Jerusalem (about ) also teaches us Since Christ Himself has declared the bread to be His Body, who can have any further doubt? Since He Himself has said quite categorically, This is My Blood, who would dare to question it, and say that it is not His Blood? Therefore, it is with complete assurance that we receive the bread and wine as the Body and Blood of Christ. His Body is given to us under the symbol of bread, and His Blood is given to us under the symbol of wine, in order to make us by receiving them one body and blood with Him. Having His Body and Blood in our members, we become bearers of Christ and sharers, as Saint Peter says, of the divine nature Do not then regard the Eucharistic elements as ordinary bread and wine: they are in fact the Body and Blood of the Lord, as He Himself has declared. Whatever your senses tell you, be strong in faith. The Lord urges us to make a sincere effort to make peace with each other when anger or hurt exists, seeking forgiveness or granting forgiveness, as appropriate, (Matthew 5:24) before approaching the Lord. Receiving Holy Communion is certainly important to our spiritual life and growth. This ultimate connection with Jesus Christ is a gift which God gives to us and one which should be accepted gratefully and responsibly. Our Church teaches that receiving Holy Communion frequently is encouraged. Our Church also teaches that a preparation is expected. Preparation for Holy Communion can vary from person to person. The minimum preparation to receive Holy Communion is to fast from meat on Wednesday and Friday and not eat anything on the morning, prior to receiving Holy Communion. For those who must take medication that requires food, they are permitted to eat that which is necessary for their health. Furthermore, the Church teaches us to fast on particular days during the year and especially during the four main fast periods. These four main fast periods are in preparation of holy days of the year, as follows: December (Nativity of our Lord) Great Lent (before Holy Week and Easter) Monday after All Saints Day through 28 June (the Apostles), 1 14 August (the Dormition of the Theotokos) Each of us is encouraged to approach the Chalice to receive Holy Communion in love and in peace, gratefully and responsibly.
