4 Reconciliation (Confession, Penance) 1. The priest will great you. 2. Make the sign of the cross, saying Bless me Father, for I have sinned. My last confession was (give the number of weeks, months, or years). 3. Tell the priest all the sins you have committed, to the best of your knowledge ending with I am sorry for these and all of my sins. 4. If the priest asks you any questions, try to answer him honestly. 5. The priest will then give you advice and assign you a penance. 6. Say the Act of Contrition. 7. While the priest prays the prayer of Absolution over you, pray that you receive the grace to turn your life more toward God. When the priest blesses you (at the end of the prayer), make the sign of the cross. 8. After the priest says Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. You say: Your mercy endures forever. 9. Leave the confessional (or reconciliation room) and do your penance.
