4 Dear Parishioners, The story of the Transfiguration is told in today s Gospel story. Jesus was transfigured and his clothes became brilliantly white. Moses and Elijah appeared and were talking with Jesus. Peter, James and John heard a voice that said, This is my Son, my Beloved. Listen to him. In Genesis we are told the story of when Abraham is told by God not to kill his son, Isaac. Abraham was not going to refuse to kill his own beloved son for God since he thought that God had asked him to offer up his son in sacrifice. Yet God the Father allows His own Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be offered up, killed, for our salvation so that Jesus Christ s death and resurrection will lead many to salvation. That is the extent of God s love for each of us. St. Paul wrote in the Letter to the Romans, God did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for the sake of all of us. Each of us is loved into existence, loved in existence, and will be loved eternally in existence. God is love and He continually displays that love every moment of our lives, even when we are burdened by physical, psychological and emotional hardships. During this Lenten Season let each of us commit ourselves to wanting to return that love of God in different ways of our lives by our thoughts, words, and deeds. Continue to have a prayerful and holy Lent, Fr. Bob Pray for the Sick Let us pray for these sick: Virgil Schutter, Jack Allison, Kim Dahnke, Collette Lavelle, Ron Sondgerath, Sue Glotzbach, Amber Brost, Phillip Gobel, Janet Schutter, Dick Bowman, Mark Cochran, Jason Cole, Brian Lemenager, Staci Wittenauer, Betty Fassnacht, Mary Reed, Cort Wilson, Marlena Thomas, Sharon Eberle, Glenn Barnard, Cooper Gretencord, Mark McMaster, Donna Cooley, Lynn Stone, Charlie Senesac and Ray Muller. Bible Study Session Just a reminder that on every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month beginning October 23, 2017 through March 5th, 2018 there will be a Bible Study Session covering the Gospel of Matthew. The sessions begin at 7:00 p.m. During the months of January, February and March the study sessions will be at St. Patrick Parish Hall. Parish Winter Closings When Benton County schools are closed there will not be morning Mass or parish activities. If there is a 2 hour delay in school then there will not be morning Mass. If there is a Benton County Winter Snow Emergency declared, all parish liturgies and activities (including Mass) will be cancelled. But praying before the Blessed Sacrament is so powerful. It is so peaceful and calming to just sit with Jesus. Pray, read, listen, meditate. Come and spend some quiet time with Jesus and see what a difference it makes in your life. We can change things, one prayer at a time. There is Adoration every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12 midnight in the Chapel in the Annex at Sacred Heart. Sign up for a set hour every week or just stop by. You will be blessed. For more information contact Debbie Barnard at (765) Holistic Prayer Journey To schedule a Healing Session call Please leave a message that includes your phone number for a return call.
