4 Dear Parishioners, Today is. One of my more favorite Scriptural verses is from Galatians, the fruits of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. How I wish that I would always relate to others with the characteristics of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. If everyone could relate in those ways at all times we would have a peaceful world. I have witness those fruits by individuals in their relationships to their family members. I have also witness those fruits by people that I have travelled with on missions to Mexico and Haiti. I have witness those fruits of the Holy Spirit in volunteers here at St. Charles and St. Patrick. Thanks to all those that have shown some or all of those fruits of the Holy Spirit in their lives and in their relationships with others. Fr. Haiti Spaghetti Luncheon Please come after the 10:30 Mass this Sunday, May 20 and join the Haiti Mission team for a Spaghetti Luncheon, video of our Haiti 2018 trip, and a sharing of our experiences. The luncheon will be a free will offering with all proceeds going toward the water well installation and water purification project we are working on with Father Calixe and the parishioners of Holy Trinity. Our mission doctors see many illnesses which are a result of contaminated water. This system will allow for better health for our Haitian friends. Life Teen M&M Fundraiser Life Teen Catholic Heart Work Camp (CHWC) M&M fundraiser will be this weekend May 19 & 20 at all parishes. Life Teen members will be passing out tubes of M&M s for you to enjoy. Bring the empty tubes back to church filled with your monetary donations. This summer we have 25 teens and 10 adults going to Farmington, MI to do service work for the week. This is the largest Life Teen group to date to attend CHWC. We are truly blessed to have this many teens and adults going to serve others, however this amount of volunteers comes with extra expenses. We appreciate your support throughout the year. Your donations help enrich the lives of our teens & the ones they are serving. Vanderkolk at the parish office at Benton Central Baccalaureate Ceremony The Baccalaureate is a non-denominational spiritual service for the 2018 graduates of Benton Central. It is an opportunity to give thanks to the Lord for their accomplishments and ask for His help and guidance in the future. All members of the community are welcome to attend! The service will include prayer, live music, and a guest speaker. So please, come support the graduating class of 2018! The Ceremony will take place Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the Benton Central Auditorium. We hope to see you there! Donations Needed The Community Food and Services Co-op is in ongoing need of your generous donations. The suggested item of donation for this month is CLEANING SUPPLIES AND LAUNDRY DETERGENT. Knights of Columbus Golf Outing The Knights of Columbus 9400 is sponsoring a Golf Outing at the Oak Grove Country Club in Oxford on July 28, $40 per person, longest drive & closest to pin prizes. 1 PM shotgun start, 4 person scramble. Meal served following the golf outing. Proceeds to benefit the Benton County Special Olympics, local food pantries, and Life Teen. Hole sponsorships are available for only $25 for personal or $50 for business. You are welcome and needed here. Caregiver Companion simply needs you to visit homebound seniors who are lonely and in need of compassion. Do you have one hour per week to come alongside the widow and the hurting as God calls us? There are many ways that you can help based on your God-given gifts, interests, and time available. Here are some current volunteer opportunities! Visit an elderly widow who gets lonely during the day in West Lafayette once a week Visit an elderly woman who lives with her son for a couple of hours in Lafayette once a week around lunch time. Run the sweeper and visit with a single elderly woman in Lafayette every other week Assist with yard work or small repair tasks Each of these elderly neighbors are sweet ladies who are just in need of a little encouragement and companionship. You will be amazed at the blessings that come from being there for someone in their time of need. Our next volunteer training session is on Saturday, June 16 th. You can pray and you do. But praying before the Blessed Sacrament is so powerful. It is so peaceful and calming to just sit with Jesus. Pray, read, listen, meditate. Come and spend some quiet time with Jesus and see what a difference it makes in your life. We can change things, one prayer at a time. There is Adoration every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12 midnight in the Chapel in the Annex at Sacred Heart. Sign up for a set hour every week or just stop by. You will be blessed.
