He also offers several examples of putting mercy into action. Listeners can then reason their way into how to put the values of the Gospel reflected in these imperatives into practice in other situations. Good stewards look for opportunities to exercise God s mercy toward others. They realize that, in doing so, their own experience of God s mercy not only becomes more profound, but affirms their hope of seeing the Lord face-to-face one day. How have we experienced God s mercy in our lives? How might our thinking, attitudes, words and actions reflect God s mercy on someone else today? 4 Dear Parishioners, Today s Gospel is very hard to follow. We are called by Jesus Christ to love our enemies and do good to them, to bless those who curse you, pray for those who treat you badly. We are called to be compassionate just as our Heavenly Father is compassionate. Do not judge, do not condemn and forgive. We are also called to give. It is a very hard message to follow. When someone steals from us or does any physical harm to our properties or our bodies we want justice immediately if not revenge. I personally know people that do pray for someone that has harmed them or their love ones. They want justice by the law but they do pray for them. One act of forgiveness is to pray for the good of someone that has done you wrong. That does not mean that you need to be friends of the person but that you want them to have a good life and to feel good about themselves. God bless, Fr. As of February 8 pledges received for St. Charles are $43, and their goal is $43,245 and pledges received for St. Patrick are $39, and their goal is $37,174. Pop Tabs The 7th & 8th grade CCD class at St. Patrick s is collecting pop tabs for St. Monica s in Africa. They use these tabs to make purses to sell to help support women and children who have been terrorized by the Lord s Resistance Army. One purse will support a women and child for three daily meals and water for six months. There is tubs in the vestibule of both churches for your tabs. If you would like to see some purses go to google and type in pop tab purses in Africa. Catholic Moment February is Catholic Press Month. Please consider your gift of $20.00 to help pay for the annual cost of providing The Catholic Moment in our parish. St. Patrick s celebration by the Knight of Columbus 9400 Saint Patrick was a fifth-century Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. Known as the Apostle of Ireland, he is the primary patron saint of Ireland, the other patron saints being Brigit of Kildare and Columba. 5 Cake Walk Sacred Heart School will have the annual St. Patrick s Cake Walk on Friday, March 15 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:15-2:45 p.m. Wear green and bring your change! Denim and Diamonds Sacred Heart School will host the 5th annual Denim & Diamonds Adult Prom on Saturday, March 9. Doors open at 7pm, DJ from 8 pm - midnight. Tickets are $20 per person and may be purchased in the school office or at the door. Donation bar and snacks will be available. Adults 21 and older only. Any questions, please call Sacred Heart school at Knights of Columbus Scholarship The General de Lafayette Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will once again be awarding a $2000 scholarship to two High School Seniors in the Assembly area. This area covers the parishes of Crawfordsville, Lafayette, Otterbein, Oxford, West Lafayette and Central Catholic High School. Deadline for the application need to be postmarked by March 29, There are forms available in the parish office. The Knights are honored to be able to award these scholarships in order to assist the youth in their future endeavors. Adoration at Sacred Heart Substitutes are desperately needed for Adoration at Sacred Heart Chapel. The hours have been shortened to 9am - 11pm every Wednesday. Adorers are always needed too. Adoration is open to everyone. Mass/Parish Activities Cancelation Due to Weather During the weekdays from Monday to Friday if Benton Community School Corporation cancels school for the day then there will be no Mass or parish activities on those days. If there is only a two hour delay we will have Mass. If there is a travel warning declared of no traveling except for emergency management workers then there will be no Mass or parish activities for the day all days of the week including Sundays.
